Thanks Chris for posing this, the chaps name is Dave and you can see my comment to him in the sticky thread at the top in this section.
Kev shared the e mail with one or two of us that Dave had sent him on finding out the reason why Kev was selling up and Dave did indeed tell Kev to keep the car and use it as much as he could during his last few weeks. I can tell you kev was overwhelmed and in tears with the generous offer as were his friends that he shared this with. BTW yesterday at Japfest a significant amount of money was raised to be donated to Dorothy House Hospice care at the request of Kevs family. If anyone else wishes to donate I've posted a link in the sticky thread at the top of general section. Thanks. Thankyou Chris for this unexpected (and in the nicest possible way 'unwanted' ) thread. I hope you'll appreciate that I find this slightly embarrassing. TO ALL POSTERS my sincere thanks for making this a very poignant day for me. I've posted a reply to KJD's on the sticky, one which I hope explains why I did it. Kevin rang me on Sat 27th April but was too moved to speak. One of his friends called me a few minutes later to tell me that Kevin took the car to PCAD at Castle Coombe, and updated me on his state of health. In effect he confirmed my fears but also that one of my hopes had been fulfilled, that Kevin would take the car out and that he would share one more time with those he loved, in the car he adored. That you all so much, once again. I am truly moved by your generosity. |
Yes mate you are a top bloke like Kev was .Chris it was also nice to see you

Top man :thumb:
When I saw the post title I thought chunkyb had spotted the spec dirty LOL |
Have to say this is truly one of the most kind/generous/heart warming things I've ever read. To do something like that to help make the final days of a complete stranger a bit better takes a truly special kind of person.
Dave (LWC), you are a real top bloke. :notworthy |
Such a true gent, what an awesome gesture :notworthy:notworthy

Dave (LWC), you are a real top bloke. :notworthy But I would point out that it was Kevin being a top bloke that brought this about. Cheers mate. |

I've left it until after Kev's funeral to reply, for a reason. I repeat what I said earlier, it is more a measure of Kev than me. That said, I am absolutely staggered by the response, not just to this thread but to the news of Kev's passing. This thread ( thanks again Chris ), although intended for me is actually a tribute to what Kev was capable of - inspiring people that he was a great bloke. I was moved to tears by your reply mate. This is a great community. |
What a lovely story, it does indeed reinforce that we have a great community, well done Dave :thumb:
