How long does the battery last from a full charge, or are you saying you can power it back up again?

Back up to iCloud or iTunes or both, fully reset the phone, follow the instructions on Apple Support, then restore, works wonders.

Could need a new battery, if you take it to Apple they’ll print out a report for you, they have great diagnosic software.

The latest IOS has destroyed my battery life. Watched a 10 minute video on you tube and it took me from 63% down to 22%.
Could be worse though - I could own an Android phone :D

JackClark 09 November 2017 12:46 AM

That’s not right, probably needs an app update, Pokémon Go was awful a while ago.

Matty81 09 November 2017 05:55 AM

I spoke to Apple support last night and they said that my battery has died a death. Had a look around and you can pick one up for £10 tomorrow including fitting price, depending on where you go obviously. easy fix.

Few issues with iPhone 6 & 6S after install of IOS 11 & first update . Family member also had the same issue , phone turning of & battery percentage drop ( massive , phone was also getting very hot .. update IOS 11.1 has fixed it .. if you still get problems , back up your phone then do a full factory reset deleting everything .. then re- install , should solve the problem & work fine from there on in

Maybe he's finally realised it's not normal behaviour. :lol1:

I was tempted with the 8 but with that many cheap 7’s around at the minute I went for one of those. I compared the two phones on gsm arena and apart from facial recognition there wasn’t enough in them for me to spend the extra cash. I got a couple red 265gb iPhone plus for £440 complete with tech21 case so I was well happy especially when I still have 8 months Apple warranty ;)

dpb 09 November 2017 11:29 AM

Amazing

800 quid everywhere else !

Matty81 09 November 2017 03:49 PM

I’ve tried all that buddy. Once I get my 8 tomorrow I’ll take a proper look at it, if it doesn’t work I’ll just buy a new battery then sell it on. Should get £150/175 for it.

what phone is it?

Matty81 09 November 2017 04:40 PM

iPhone 6

Tidgy 09 November 2017 04:51 PM

ah right, interestng, doesnt seem like they are holding their value as much as they were, i got a price of £145 for my Samsung S6 and Iphones are sold claiming they hold better value than other handsets.

Fishbowlhead 09 November 2017 04:57 PM

Anyone had both an iPhone8 & a galaxy s8?

Im a month out of contract of my iPhone6 and it’s feeling very long in the tooth now as it’s seen a lot of use. Interested in any opinions of someone who has used both extensively.

No **** you’re happy. I sold my 6+ a week ago for £240! Miraculous timing. The 7+ is in a different league to the 6+.

stevebt 09 November 2017 05:24 PM

I think the main difference between the S8 and iPhone 8 will be the screen but that will only be noticeable in video or possibly zooming in more using the internet as it gets more content with the higher res. Apart from that it will all boil down to personal preference. I didn’t go for the Samsung as all this glass they are making them from is just creating ultra fragile phones.

3 years makes it likely the longest lasting device you’ve owned, if you want that lifetime again, buy the latest, 8 or X whatever you can afford. It’s the boring option, but a lot of people don’t want the hassle of Android.

Matty81 09 November 2017 06:08 PM

Hmmm maybe I put it up for £200 and see where it gets me then. I’ve seen them on eBay for that.

jazzyjembreaze 09 November 2017 07:17 PM

I doubt if you fell from height onto cold steel , you wouldn’t work to well either . Lol

There is someone near me selling a note 8 on gumtree for £460. They aren’t holding their value well as there were a lot more for £500

Perhaps but on every video on drop tests the Samsung's fare better than Apple, despite being plastered in glass they are still usable (albeit cracked or damaged of course) whereas the iPhones are usually missing various bits and don't work at all.

Load of tosh.

Dont click it, look at the link and poster and ask I yourself “is this credible”

For the drop test, I’m at 1.

JackClark 11 November 2017 09:03 AM

Now you know why Apple are dumping Samsung! They make a load of crap,
shocking! Thanks for alerting us to this quality issue, I was worried by the choice.

jazzyjembreaze 11 November 2017 02:03 PM

His battery issue is more than likely the factory set IOS 11 installed on phone from purchase . 11.1 fixes battery drain , overheat , messages bugs etc etc

Of course I’m only speculating / as you are also :)

I can think of Zero reasons why I'd watch a movie on a tiny screen, maybe if I was in prison. You're so funny, first Apple don't use OLED on their phones, you rant about that, now Apple do use Samsung screens, you're trying to find fault in that LOL. Why do you do it to yourself.

Everyone but you knows Samsung make great screens, the iPhone X screen is said to be the best they've ever produced driven by a GPU that will likely never be matched. But no, you've cooked up some conspiratorial tosh... again.

You just bought a 1080 iPhone 6, there's nothing new in there, name one thing. Where's your 3d touch, why does your device still vibrate!! Why aren't you running at gigabit speeds. Do you see me on your thread being mental like that? No, no you don't.

JackClark 11 November 2017 11:20 PM

Mostly drivel, don’t feel you need to use so many words. Interesting that you’re concerned regarding codecs, most people don’t care, that really is one thing that “just works” on Android and iOS. It’s great. some people do have time for that malarkey but they’re mostly pirates.

I did’nt watch or read your links, are you mad. And who cares if it breaks a bit if you drop it hard enough, I dropped mine this week, face down, in its case, it doesn’t matter what it’s made of that’s still not nice.
