I am surprised there have been no vigilante style groups - why are we all letting 'kids' in the minority scare us?

Nice one, and I would bet that there are no Sikhs engaging in all this, always seem to be dignified and
not given to fear.

You know, this kind of shows why the old goverments plan of removing bobbys from the beat and giving them cars to patrol further, is a load of ****ing arse.

Some copper in his panda is not going to do much in a situation like this, ohh great, lets just draft in extra coppers from elsewhere, until the trouble kicks off elsewhere.

We need more coppers on the beat = FACT!

Hello Rioters
Look at your Friend, now back to me
Now at your friend, now back to me
Sadly, he isn't me
But if he stopped using petrol bombs
...And started using Job centre he could potentially be me
Look down, Back up. Where are we?
You're at an interview with the man your friend could work for.
What's in your hand? Back at me.
I have it. It's an application form to that job you need.
Look again. The form is now money.
Anything is possible when you get a job and stop looting.
I'm on a horse

;)

They tried it last night but only landed in the back yard at Saint Annes, but tonight was Canning Circus.

Instead these scum will stick to their council estates making the law abiding residents lives a nightmare just like they usually do.

OK, I have just come home having driven round the edge of Manchester city centre as I didn't think driving through it would be a good idea.

Even what I have just seen is 10 times worse than is being reported on the media tonight. Groups of adults and kids, black and white roaming the streets and looting at will. I have seen very few police and those I have seen were not getting involved. Massive amounts of damage, roads littered with debris.... etc.

It's very scary sitting at a set of lights while a group of people emerge from a wrecked shop just next to the lights brandishing merchandise and talking excitedly about what they have just stolen.

As I moved north it's the same in areas of Middleton and Heywood.

Sorry and I am not point scoring or being political, but Cameron needs to impose a curfew, martial law and deploy the tropps, use plastic bullets and actually arrest and charge and sentence these people. This is no longer the time to worry about what it does to his reputation on the world stage or whatever, this is about regaining control of the country as right now these gangs are in charge in many areas.

It takes a lot to shake me to the core, but seeing that has :(

+Doc+ 09 August 2011 11:20 PM

Heard rumours Ikea Nottingham was being targeted, might have a drive up, would love to see people with flat pack furniture running up the A610.
Where do these rumours come from? lol

f1_fan 09 August 2011 11:23 PM

A few more points

Just heard that the NW police forces are now recalling the officers they sent to London to cope with the issues in Manchester... juts as someone said on here earlier. If we can get it right why can't the so called experts?

Just seen an interview with the assistant chief constable of Greater Manchester and he reckons they could have done little more... in that case you have already lost mate!!! He did say that people should stay home tomorrow and particularly that parents should keep their kids home in the evening.... sounds like we need that curfew I keep banging on about!!

J4CKO 09 August 2011 11:25 PM

F1, sounds scary mate and I think you are bang on in what you say.

Honestly J4cko it was bloody scary. I know I post like a bit of cnut on here much of the time, but those two posts there are just raw me. I was literally shaking. Glad to be home frankly. I don't know what I was thinking driving round there to be honest, but as I said the media didn't seem to say there was much of a problem outside Manchester and Salford city centres when I checked before I set off.

Not good mate. I don't blame you for going to look, but best stay indoors. I want to go and see if there are any groups of people locally who are trying to protect property etc., but I am better off at home, I think.

I do agree with a curfew, as otherwise, people are just not going to feel safe if this situation is allowed to continue.

A few plastic bullets, with word of more on the way, might be enough for a few kids to think again.

Ealing is very close to me and I struggled to go to bed last night with the news of what was going on there. Even saw a group of youths travelling from that direction, at about 2.30am this morning, as they went past my house.

I have friends (Scoobynetters) who live right there!

This is a really bad situation and surely the Police should be given clear instruction to stamp down on this?

Asif

I didn't go to look mate. I went to see a friend in south Manchester and before I left their house to come home I checked the media and it seemed to indicate all was OK except for the city centres (Manchester and Salford).... so decided to drive round the east of the city as thought that would be safe enough... well that was not the case

Really? ;);) (I really am only joking, just trying to lift the mood).

In all seriousness, I am sorry you have had a scare, can't be nice for anyone stuck in the middle of this. :( We're further up, and all seems ok for now, just the odd rumour, but my work has even been taking some precautions in case it all kicks off here.

Typical media....Maybe I'm being unfair, but problems appear to be regarded as less serious if they are further North (generally speaking).
