You will have to disconnect the licence plate lights and boot opening button from inside the car.

This will leave you with 4 mounting holes and if I remember correctly a couple of grommet holes for the wiring.

Cheers Don, will the car be safe with the trim missing. Does it expose it to being easier to break into etc.

Cheers phil appreciate it.

Would say not, and the lock is some way away from the holes etc.

Could always fit temporary nuts and bolts to plug them.

stevie1982 14 April 2013 10:35 PM

Cheers Don :thumb: looks like I have next weekend planned.

Is there anyway that all the doors can be opened using the keyless entry instead of it just opening the drivers?

Tony

Opening only the door that you have had your hand in the door handle to me is a very good safety/security feature.

Being "billy no mates" a lot of the time :D, I have no need to worry that all doors are unlocked and quickly pressing the door unlock button, isn't that much of a hardship should it be needed.

As said, the fob function is always available, unless you can't find your keys in your man purse :D:D:D

Curious to know, obviously we don't buy and run these cars for the amazing mpg but how many miles do you guys get out of a tank. Since the remap running around 400/380 I get aabout 180 miles out of the tank before the light of one's on.

This sound right, just I'm sure I got better results out of my built 2.0 @485/430

Littleted 17 April 2013 03:53 PM

I had the 320R motorway I got 260 to 320 a tank

abre 17 April 2013 04:08 PM

On my bog standard Type UK I'm seeing about 270 miles of daily commute driving with a bit of open road & motorway thrown in for good measure, before I chicken out & fill up :D but can then normally only squeeze 52 litres ish in of Tesco's finest... So if I'm correct I must have a good 50 miles left to go, but not going to test that theory out :)

Yes but a double press of the door button should open ALL of the doors. It's rather simple, and i'm afraid to say it another completely shizz design on these cars. And I was always lead to believe Jap was the best at this. :cuckoo:

Pressing the door button locks the car............ nothing else.

stevie1982 17 April 2013 10:33 PM

Jamie I don't press the button, just place my hand by the handle and it unlocks. Good enough for me pal

Jamie330S 18 April 2013 12:09 AM

I will try it again tomorrow, but im sure I have to press the button to unlock the car before just pulling the driver door handle.

The action of putting your hand into the door handle recess (with key fob in proximity) is enough to unlock the door.

Although if your passengers are on the ball and pull on their door handles at the same time as you, they too can get in as all doors unlock as you open your door, but then immediately relock... I discovered this when my daughter managed to get in one day without me hitting the unlock switch :wonder: now it's a game for them to see how quick their reactions are in order to beat the relock and it's fast! :D the threat of driving off without them helps a little :lol1:

Looking good, I take it you have your replacement back box/es now.
Will we be seeing you at Rally Day?

sniffmydiff 20 April 2013 09:47 PM

Yes Don finally had them a couple of weeks ago,i also added a H&S centre section ,the bloody things are not sitting correctly for some reason, one of the boxes is sitting further out than the other
I don't know if its the centre section or the backboxes.

Small update. Jdm av panel arrived this week so another play with plastidip. Removed the old and on with the new. Car needs a proper clean and will pop a final pic of the interior tweaks so far, looks much better yet I'm obviously biased

Did you have to remove the fog lights?

Nope, Fog light mounts are part of the bumper so only have to remove supply fuse to prevent operation and melt the covers :D

Unfortunately not as I'd ordered them before Stevie found the US ones.....

Abx 24 April 2013 05:28 PM

Guys, my front bumper is coming off in a few weeks to fit the next bunch of parts so have decided to swap out my PIAA horns for some supertones, they come with a relay, do I need to run separate power to them for more full volume of can I plug them into the oe wiring?

PIAA's are a direct swap for oe horns.

Cheers
A

Would depend on their rating, although the OEM ones already operate via a dedicated relay and are protected by a 15A fuse (combined load).
