Hmmm, I've been wondering about a workstand - certainly save a lot of backache. Thinking of how I could mount my car rack to the wall at the right angle to do the same job?
|
happy belated birthday luke. iv not got a work stand but never realy thought about it i tend just to turn the bike upside down.
now a stupid question what is the top speed any one on here has achieved on a bike?? i start with 59mph can anybody beat this? |
Ciaran
I find a stand makes life easier. How do you shift gears when the bike is upsidedown??? its hard. Also with Hope mini's its not a god idea to tur the bike upside . Takes a bit of practice to get the bike in and out. But for £79.00 itys good value and looks like it will last. |

well i see ur point luke why can putting ur bike upside down affect ur hope's. i have 4 pots on one of my other bikes best thing i ever bought unbelievable that u can lock a wheel at 50 on tarmac without even trying no wonder i always need new rear tyres they only last about 1000 miles.

Four pots...on a bike??????? What's that then? Motorbike perhaps? Anyone been to Kirkhill forest - nr Aberdeen? Went there yesterday, got completely soaked, but who cares eh? Isn't that what it's about? |
Hope minis are an open system and have a small breath hole in the top of the resivoir. If you leave the bike upside down for long periods oil can leak out. Also if you leave it upside down for a long time the oil drains from the caliper into the resivoir and you get air in the system. This air does come out oagain if left upright for a while, but can be a bit scrary if you jump on and ride starigh away!

i know 4 pots way over the top got them dirt cheap from the states sayin g that they were still £300. no franx never been to kirkhill on the bike.

Belated Happy Birthday Luke. :) Life really does begin at forty. Had mine 5 months ago. :) I would love to do a 24 hour event this year. I might get back into XC racing now that I can compete in the Veteran class. Anyone else interested in putting a team together? My mountain bikes are still stuck in Cardiff so I have to make do with the road bikes for the next week or so. The weather here in Jersey today is fantastic and its a real shame not being able to get out and ride off road. I hate riding the road bike when I see trails that I could turn off on to if I was on my Jekyl or F900. |

If only as balance to all the football threads........ |

Your jekel, lefty or head shock??? If its a headshock. I know someone who is selling a mint lefty that would fit. Complete with wheel etc. |
i think cannondale's are over rated i have a fronf susp scott and it is the best bike i hvae ever owned and it only cost £800
|
I'm selling one of my bikes :)
Thread below, including pictures, priced reduced to £800 Scott Pro Race http://www.megastream.dsl.pipex.com/...e/DSCN2019.JPG |
As a range ,Cannondale walk over Scott. Cannondale have so much more money and customers. They have made lemons ....but so has everyone else. But have you tried a recent cannondale frame??? I find the head shock only works when you have had it adjusted with shims to control the damping. The lefty is out of this world. Also cannondale forks are very stiff. So are good for disks. But not cannondale own brand Coda..............bit krap.
|
mega stream tidy bike is it carbon fibre?
BTTT |
Carbon Monocoque frame, if I remember rightly Cerian.
Very nice...fancy swapping it for a Trek?! |
mountain biking was my sport but cars kinda took over
trying to get back out on the bike as the cars got put on hold but just keep putting it off maybe a scoobynet ride could be on the cards wot do people think? |
another crackin' mbk video :D
(just bought the eggbeaters but haven't tried them out yet) [Edited by Andy Mid. - 6/5/2003 10:51:39 PM] |
Luke
I could be interested in the Lefty as mine is a normal headshock. Personally I love the headshock for the easy adjustment on the fly. I also like the general strength and good mud clearance. I rode a lefty a few years ago and was a bit put off at first just because it felt wrong to have one-sided suspension, stupid I know as by all accounts it is a good fork and suits the Jekyl frame well. Either post up the details or email me at: horman@localdial.com Cannondale have made some lemons (and I've bought some of them!) but the backup has always been good. They replaced my carbon fibre Raven with the new Jekyl after my epic Prague to Budapest last summer in the torrential rain and floods. |
Lefty. ,Fantastic condition. Complete with Coda hub and good rim/spokes. Very easy to swap. Titanium spindle etc. £420.00.
|
never rode with a lefty, at first i was a bit unsure but if Brian Lopes (Pro) trusts them to do dual then it must be good
how about a scoobynet ride? any recommended locations? |
maybe a scoobynet ride could be on the cards |
When you first ride one ...its funny !! you keep looking down to see if its still there!!!
But I am, told Cannondale have NEVER had one back due to a problem with build quality etc. They are very good forks. Wish it would fit my Merlin.... |
Sold today.

BTW, for anyone who can be bothered to download it, here's a video I've knocked up of us messing about at Glentress. Should give you an idea what it's like up here. :D
It's about 9.5Mb. Excuse the cheesy presentation - it's the first time I've managed to do video editing on a PC before, so I was 'having a play'. :D ;) |
video is good mate
the trails look well nice, where abouts is that? |
It's at Glentress forest - which happens to be about 3 miles from my house. :D
|
got any more video footage of the forrest
would be brill if u did check out the videos on this site http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk |
Haven't got any more footage yet. But I do have a helmet-cam which I'll be riggin up when I get time, so should be able to do some on-bike footage at some point. If it looks okay, I'll post it up here. :D
