Harvey, as you have said that you have not remmapped can you let us know what you did to get the extra increase??

More boost?? Fuel mix??

Am seriously interested, if it was the fuel mix can you please tell me what ratio you used??

I have literally (sp)just got off the phone to someone in the states about a turbo and was discussing internal/ext wastegates... IIRC you are also running with Int WG still, this is also a big thing then IMO, 586 on an Int WG'd Turbo... Everyone seems to opt for External?? Most interesting:D:D the US Guys run big numbers also on Int WG... Thinking aloud:D:D

Harvey,

NOWHERE did I say that you ARE using race fuel ! I replied to JOHN FELSTEAD, when he made THIS comment.

I was under the impresion Harvey has already said he uses a control fuel such as Elf Turbo Max when he runs on the RR
For some reason, you seem to have taken offence at this comment,

Harvey's figures are terrific, and if he's using race fuel, it's just another means of achieving his goal, and if he can afford to run race fuel as his "daily" fuel........LUCKY him
Harvey, it seems that even if I pay you a compliment, you are so blinkered, that you turn it into something it isn't !!!

With regard to this,

The alternative is that I start another page on my site and start to list all failed turbos, under performing turbos, mapping failures and disasters, engine failures and so on from whatever source
Harvey DO IT. Get it off your chest, and I'll deal with the accusations in the appropriate way.

Mark.[/b]

It even made it over to Passionford - wonder the the Ford lot are getting worried! :D

Similar power & weight to Kevin Sharpe's Escort Cossie - we should be seeing low 10's from this car if his is anything to go by :)

Wonder what Harveys new quarter times will be like, though in saying that he might not hammer the t1ts of it incase it blows (no disrespect there Harvey)

my estimate - 11.2s

if he has dog gears then - 10.9s

any other estimates?

David_Wallis 26 November 2003 09:46 PM

going by andys calcs late 10's

harvey 27 November 2003 12:46 AM

Rob: Am seriosly interested to know what happened to the TD05-06 20G turbo you had that you got from Andy Forrest that was on your previous motor???

"10sec 1/4s" Get real. 11.74 1/4 with around 500 bhp. No way the same vehicle can do 10s with an extra 80bhp. (apart from the fact I have no intention of testing my transmission to destruction.)

ChristianR 27 November 2003 08:29 AM

Harvey, if a 550hp wrx (it is a twin-turbo) in australia gets 10.7 1/4 at 131mph on shell optimax. I dont see why yours wont be faster since you have more bhp ?

[Edited by ChristianR - 11/27/2003 8:33:33 AM]

harvey 27 November 2003 09:32 AM

Christian: You obviosly know far more about my car than I do myself.
Tell us, where did you do the 11.4. I assume it refers to a drag strip time and have you got an actual rolling road figure yet or are you still working on an estimate that "somebody" told you?
BTW. What is the weight of this car in Oz and what gearbox and gearing is it running?

P20SPD 27 November 2003 09:46 AM

Harvey

Can i make this quite clear in the first instance, i do not wish to discuss anything with you on this forum or anywhere else for that matter. However, i will choose to correct you on your statement in which you use me as an example.

Nor was I sat in the car with a lap top while on the rollers as I have seen you do with Steven Darley at Well Lane in the past
a) There was no laptop in the car!
b) He (Mark) had specific instructions not to touch the map!
c) He was asked by me to sit in the car and observe what was happening from the link Tuning module. Thats it.

Hope that clears your little point up.

Please refrain from using me as an example, and that applies to all that wish to partake in the arguments, as i have no desire to be involved.

Steven

ChristianR 27 November 2003 09:58 AM

Harvey : I do not, it is your car, but to the everyday person such as myself, I just don't see why your car wont be faster, since it is making more bhp than a subaru in Oz which is doing 1/4 in 10.7. Oh, and it is an everyday car!!

harvey, you need to mellow out
mark was complimenting you not dissing you
you seem to take everything the wrong way
i thought you was sound bloke, but to me it looks like you are stiring it up again, it has been fine for the past few weeks can we just keep it like that

just want to add that my turbo and engine bits where brought through mark, and it has been running fine, with no problems for that last 8000 miles, came 6th in scoobyshoot (with a clapsing intake pipe, boost kept droping off to 0.4 bar when it should of been 1.2)

and YHM

Mikee

and it has been running fine, with no problems for that last 8000 miles
You have done 8k miles since totb test day ? coz it wasn't running fine enough to use it then ??

Christian, your engine is a higher spec than Harveys, why are you not as quick as that Auz car ?

Andy

ChristianR 27 November 2003 11:28 AM

Christian, your engine is a higher spec than Harveys, why are you not as quick as that Auz car ?
Andy, it may be higher spec, but I am not running as much bhp as Harvey or the Oz car. Hence why mine is slower than the oz car, and harveys should be quicker.

When are you doing a next 1/4 run Harvey? so we can see the first 10second english subaru!

[Edited by ChristianR - 11/27/2003 11:34:17 AM]

Andy.F 27 November 2003 11:42 AM

Why not Christian ?

ChristianR 27 November 2003 11:48 AM

Don't need to, already fast enough for Jersey roads! Anyway back onto the discussion in hand...

RICH WILD 27 November 2003 11:51 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong here but surely, as far as 1/4 mile times go, doesn't a lot depend on how agressive you are in the launch?

If you turned up at a drag strip on a trailer, totally unarsed about decimating your transmission would you be able to get considerably better times than someone who is a bit more cautious on their set offs as they have to drive home at the end of the day?

I saw a fair bit at TOTB2 that hinted at this. Some of the cars that had been trailered there from big-ass tuning companies were blasting off the line but understandably, those members of the general public who had driven there and had to get home at the end of the day were being a bit more careful.

Puff The Magic Wagon! 27 November 2003 11:57 AM

Rich

were being a bit more careful

Only a little bit maybe ;)

A lot of it is down to technique, which is why I'm sure there is a wide disparity of times over simillar powered cars. For instance, I was mucking about with change up points & seeing the difference in times that led to - even 500rpm made a difference...

johnfelstead 27 November 2003 12:30 PM

You have done 8k miles since totb test day ? coz it wasn't running fine enough to use it then ??
Mikee had not had the car mapped, in fact he didnt run at TOTB2 because they ran out of time to map it and concentrated on David's instead. You must remember that saga surely?

8k miles is nothing, as you know my engine was far from running fine at TOTB2 having destroyed its bottom end. :( I have been to Finland for 10 days, came home then rebuilt that, had it remapped twice and still managed 11,000 miles since.

Pavlo 27 November 2003 12:38 PM

Rob's old td05/06 was sold with his silver wrx in the summer.

So only 50 plus other peeps saw the lap top connected and no adjustments being made? O.K.
Christian: Your car is under performing for your spec son. Do you know why? I see you have not answered my questions. Which drag strip hosted your 11.4 and where was yor last R.R. result and when? Oh and what bhp and torque?
So what is the weight of each car, gearing and gearbox because without that you are an extremely clever guy to know what time my car can do ...or you know jack sh!t and dream crap.
BTW. Mine will do low 11s now from my calcs. but I now need to get a spare gearbox ready for when I break this one if I elect to be brutal.
Mikee. You got it all wrong mate, I am a sound, helpful bloke and up to now have shared as much info as I could with all comers. Isn't that right Rob? Lots of peeps know that. O.K.? Just look at my profile. (Fogive the plagerism Anders),OK so I got a few problems like I have no time for nob heads (do not think you are one of them BTW),people that talk about it knowledgably and have never done it successfully and dole out bull**** to the unsuspecting but even if you do not like me I think you might be an OK guy. Now what is the full history of your 2.2? When my research is complete we can feature it here:
www.geocities.com/harveysmith3000

No moderators there just little innocent me. Oh and BTW Mark had a choice. Now a wise man might have stayed stoom but "DO IT", bit silly really because that is like a red rag to a bull or a green light to go. Not sure which."Looks like you are stirring it up again" or something like that. Bit like the start of the pheasant shooting season and I always like to have a good bag. Anyway I digress. Now remind me the full history of your 2.2 or have you forgotten.? I am sure somebody can help you.
Rich Wild: Thanks. Somebody with a bit of common,...not just because he agrees with me either.

harvey,

think you need to edit the link to change the comma for a dot.

btw, I agree that quarter mile times are more to do with lunching gearboxes and clutches and not mechanical sympathy, but, andy forest has made it clear that terminal velocity should be directly related to power and is less dependent on technique, its that which I care about.

I think chritsian's quarter mile time comes via one of those gps or accelerometer based gismos ap22 or something.

Its probably prohibitively expensive for him to travel from jersey everytime he needs to prove himself to others.

harvey 27 November 2003 01:27 PM

Thanks for that Adam. Done like you say but still N/A. Should be working but may be getting a few hits. As you know I am not much good on the computer so I will get Dawn to sort it tonight.

Let' see what Christian comes back with and if he has all the answers or skirts round it.

Mr Smith, you are dreaming, FACT, you seem to know more about my car than me, strange, as i own the car, not you, and consequently know exactly what has happened with it!!

If you believe you are correct, PROVE IT, ask the 50 odd people there, not that there were that many. I am sure some wont even care, but no doubt, those that are far enough up your ar5e will agree entirely with what you say!

Quite frankly i dont give a sh1t for you and your shananigans, but i will ask you ONCE more, please DO NOT use me, or my car in any of your examples of your petty, mindless arguments.

If you choose to use me as an example then on your head be it. Post what the hell you like on your childish website, but i will tell you now, make sure it is factual, otherwise you will receive a taste of your own medicine, understand!

I do not, and will not have anything further to do with YOU, end of story.

Steven

Harvey,

TBH, I have nothing to hide, therefore I refuse to be bullied, or black mailed into not posting, because it doesn't suit you.

I paid you a compliment, and you have even used this as an excuse to carry on your vendetta.

To this day, you have refused to tell me what I have done, that has so insensed you.

When you turned up at my home, I invited you to sit down, tell me what the problem was, so I could sort it out with you. You refused.

This is not the first time you have threatened to do something to, or against me, and you made it very clear when you visited my home, that you intended to cause my business as much harm as you could.

Anyone reading your posts relating to me, or those that I'm involved with, will know this is what what you're attempting to do.

So, go ahead, put what you want on your web site. If you stick to the FACTS I don't have any problem with it at all. I'll even contribute, if some of the problems I've had with my own engines help others !!!!

Mark. Edited to stop everything being in bold, or trying to ! and giving up.....

OK Peeps

Please can everyone refrain from personal attacks and the "I've got a bigger willy than you" type remarks

If you wish to abuse each other, please do so via email or go find a football stadium & shout at each other, but SN is not the place to carry on "Tuner Wars" - OK?

What would be best is when Scooby Shootout 2 comes along, everyone rolls up, does their bit, walks the walk, then goes home. However, pointless discussions on here will prove nothing and only serve to rial and antagonise.

There is likely NEVER to be a definitive answer, but there are some people out there with WELL SORTED BIG BHP SCOOBIES that deserve credit for pushing forward the boundaries.

So please desist this petty bickering and save it for either the strip, the rolling road or the track. Any continuence of this argy-bargy will result in this thread (& any others that start up) being locked.

We're all scooby fans, so lets chill a bit?

Thanks

You have done 8k miles since totb test day ? coz it wasn't running fine enough to use it then ??
andy,
as john said, never got car mapped with the gems in time as pat was busy trying to get wallis's done, i was running the stock ecu, while running in and had done 1300 miles prior to TOTB including driving to elvington and back.
steve simpson was orginally going to map the gems, but he booked up for 3 weeks solid and i should'nt have left it to late as well, should of got it done alot earlier.

i do 400 miles a week on average with work, and has been 4 months since TOTB
(7872 upto to now on new engine to be exact)

harvey,
have had a few problems with my car, will list later on when i got more time, but none of them are to do with engine build or turbo and you are welcome to publish my car details on your website, will that include the credits :D

and did you get my email? (as i got problems sending emails to hotmail accounts)

mikee

Adam M 27 November 2003 02:56 PM

Puff,

I for one would like to see the war between mark and Harvey finally aired and finished with, i think it would be in the interest of the "community" which I believe you are trying to protect.

This disgareement has been going on for years now, and many are not sure why. It would certainly be in our interests for all of us to be able to work together in future to learn things. with this in mind I think harvey should be allowed to answer so that we stand a chance of putting this thing to bed ionce and for all.

If the threat to lock the thread remains can it be copied over onto 22B.com where I for one will not lock it.

So only 50 plus other peeps saw the lap top connected and no adjustments being made? O.K.
I am sorry to Steven as he just said he didn't want his car spoken about in petty arguments.. but what difference would it make if it did have a laptop plugged in??
I don't understand why you are making such a big deal about it?
As it happens I don't believe it did but still cannot see what difference it makes?

BTW. Mine will do low 11s now from my calcs.
Well done, both for the new increase in power and for how well it should do, no one has done anything other than given praise as far as I see and asked question about what you have done to increase it which ytou have skirted around..

Mikee. You got it all wrong mate, I am a sound, helpful bloke and up to now have shared as much info as I could with all comers.
Mikee said you were stirring things up and dissing other people, and that you should mellow out. What relevance has being helpful to new comers and sharing info and being sound got to do with it?? You have given me info and help a long time ago but what relevance has that to this?
Why up until now? are you not going to help out new comers anymore?

When my research is complete we can feature it here:
www.geocities.com/harveysmith3000

No moderators there just little innocent me.
So only your side of the story.. don't get this?? you are just deliberatly trying to rial people and not give a fair environment for people to give there side of the story?

Oh and BTW Mark had a choice. Now a wise man might have stayed stoom but "DO IT", bit silly really because that is like a red rag to a bull or a green light to go.
I think I must be unwise in your eyes too then because I would have said the same thing in that situation.. what would you rather he bowed to your greatness <tongue in cheek> and begged you not to?? anything Mark has done and you know about is out here anyway.. putting it all on your website is going to do nothing other than open you up to a liable case.. especially when none (to my knowledge) of the problems you speak of occurred to YOU.
The Scoobysport stuff happened to you so yes I can see why you might be bitter or annoyed about it and put it on your website but seems a bit weird to put stuff about other peoples cars and supplier / customer transactions on there when you are not the customer?

I have nothing against you in the slightest Harvey and told myself I would not get into this and yet here I am.. doh..
I am not attacking you I just don't agree with some of what you have said strongly enough to reply.
I have spoken to you in the past and you have offered me help, but I don't like the things you have done to others and said to others but I am not going to put them on my website.

I have used Mark to buy parts and get advice and I have had no trouble what so ever and he has gone out of his way to back up his sales long after money has exchanged hands etc..
but I'll go anywhere to get advice and good parts and prices and would like to think I was unbiased..

Please stop this stupid arguing..

Edited to correct a spelling mistake.. I am sure there are many others..
