So we have a manager on 6 mil a year who is meant to be one of the best and what does he do... revert exactly back to what Sven and Mclaren have been doing. He cant decide on a no 1 keeper, he cant sort the left side and he still picks Gerrard and Lampard in centre mid. Heskey is truly ****e it's embarrassing, SWP is not an England player. The sooner England get knocked out the better then at least I can watch the football without the **** surrounding this squad.

Jay m A 14 June 2010 10:12 AM

I think James, Upson and Barry will start the next game, 4,4,2 and Gerrard on the left of midfield, tried and tested, 2 wins, top of group :thumb:

Well thats about as much optimism as I can muster right now!

Looking forward to the Holland game

STi wanna Subaru 14 June 2010 10:14 AM

James

Johnson Carragher *spits* Terry Cole
Barry\Carrick
Lennon Lampard Gerrard J.Cole
Rooney

Please for the next game.

Heskey's quote: "the keeper (Howard) stood up quite well. I just tried to get as much power behind it as possible because these balls do move around. He has done well but he is lucky it has caught him right in the midriff"

So now we know why Heskey's goal-scoring record for both his clubs and country has been so abysmal over the years! He's under the impression that your are supposed to hit the ball straight at the 'keeper and expect him to dive out of the way and let it go in (like Robert Green, I suppose ;)). Maybe Capello should have a friendly word in their ears and we'll perhaps do a bit better next time.

Aye, I was ranting about that too...........

Australia are so sh1t, they made the look better than they are, Aus are no better then the conference imo, did you see the defending ? farcical.

STi wanna Subaru 14 June 2010 02:22 PM

The US aren't great either ;)

Tenby 14 June 2010 03:33 PM

zee germans always seem to get the job done in big events. england can onlt get better

Turbo2 14 June 2010 04:27 PM

Has anyone on here been keeping a sly eye on the live I-Player games whilst they should be working? Come on, you know who you are, so own up.:Suspiciou

I would never do such a thing. :D

Jay m A 14 June 2010 04:59 PM

Nor would I, but the ITV player took a while to work out, not as good a stream as BBC by todays offerings

Bravo2zero_sps 14 June 2010 05:17 PM

How woeful were Van Persie and Bendtner :lol1: Both think they are the business when neither can hit a barn door for Arsenal and proved it today. Cameroon were shockingly bad.

The best and only team to play well so far has been Germany.

Funkii Munkii 15 June 2010 12:44 AM

PMSL, you still find an angle on the troubles at Arsenal :lol1:

Of course :D Those 2 had been bigging themselves up for the WC and what crap they were :lol1:

STi wanna Subaru 15 June 2010 05:46 PM

rubbish world cup so far

Bravo2zero_sps 15 June 2010 05:53 PM

It's been useless, so few goals. I'm hoping Brazil spank N Korea tonight for some much needed entertainment.

FlightMan 15 June 2010 07:02 PM

Most 1st games are always poor, too much to loose. It will spark into life when teams need a win.

Give it time.

Funkii Munkii 16 June 2010 12:26 AM

I quite enjoyed the Argentina vs Nigeria game, that was probably the most entertaining so far, bar the Aussies capitulating :)

Turbo2 16 June 2010 09:04 AM

All the "Big" teams have failed to shine so far with only Spain left to impress us. Only Germany showed much enterprise and cutting edge, but that was against lowly Australia, who had their best player sent-off.

As for the Group of Death (G), we are now left with the curious situation that if Drogba's Ivory Coast manages to at least draw with the lackustre Brazil side and beat the North Koreans by more than one goal in their last game, then Portugal also only need to beat North Korea by more than one goal and draw with Brazil in their last game to knock Brazil out at the first hurdle. It's a big "IF", but could be quite amusing.

The Brazil v Ivory Coast game on Sunday night is key to that Group. If Brazil win, then the above is b0llocks! :D

I guess I am just clutching at straws. :)

Edit: add Spain to my above list of 1st Round duffers. That point for England against the USA doesn't seem so bad after all!

Mifo 16 June 2010 07:42 PM

So much for spain! Not sure whats going on at this world cup all the games have been fairly average so far.
None of the big teams have impressed me so far, maybe the germans but that was against a very poor showing from the aussies.
Got to hand it to North Korea they werent bad at all against Brazil.

Turbo2 17 June 2010 10:30 AM

Apparently the Germans have been playing with the much-maligned German Adidas World Cup ball all season in the Bundesliga. That might help explain why they did so well at the weekend. Does seem a bit unfair on every other country though.

Bravo2zero_sps 17 June 2010 10:49 AM

Something is definitely up but don't believe it is entirely the ball. Look at the number of times the long ball has been played across field and the player receiving stands where he think he will chest it down and it bounces miles over his head. Their pitches must be like concrete and combined with that ball it's not making for easy ball control/passing.

For all the teams bar Germany to play p!ss poor must be due to something other than they are all crap.

Jay m A 17 June 2010 02:36 PM

A couple of the other big teams have had the Adidas ball, all depends on sponsorship rights that the leagues have. Premiership sponsored by Nike football supplier, so we haven't used it until the training camps

Bravo2zero_sps 17 June 2010 02:51 PM

Not according to FIFA, only the Bundesliga have used that ball to trial it for the WC.

sti-04!! 17 June 2010 09:24 PM

Brilliant the frogs got pumped. Cheating french b**tards :D

Turbo2 18 June 2010 08:53 AM

Raymond (eyebrows :norty:) Domenech: the right man for Liverpool? :D

Aaron1978 18 June 2010 09:41 AM

If that's true, it's tantamount to giving them an advantage........

Now, what's that guy's name, Sepp Blatter......Not German by any chance, is he?

'fraid not. He's a Swiss guy, so 100% neutral. ;)

alcazar 18 June 2010 02:44 PM

Woops, the Germans stumble..............

Bravo2zero_sps 18 June 2010 08:10 PM

What utter sh!te so far. It's emabarassing to watch. The team selection is all wrong as usual.

WTF is he doing putting Gerrard back out on the left and dropping Robert Green  James is known as calamity James for good reason, Green makes one mistake and is dropped for a keeper who has made more fcuk ups than anyone in goal

Lampard should have been dropped in favour of keeping Gerrard in the middle with Barry and having Joe Cole on the left. Heskey should have been dropped for either Defoe or Crouch to partner Rooney. I would have chosen Crouch.

Algeria have been the better team :lol1: and so if we play one of the 7 teams above us in the World rankings we'd be slaughtered on current form.

Bravo2zero_sps 18 June 2010 09:20 PM

That is the worst i've seen from an England team. Pathetic.
