jameswrx 20 February 2011 05:20 PM

Where did you get the fmic? If it's missing a bit send it back?

I bought a cheap ebay one for my old my99 type r but got the one with the alloy finish pipes rather than the chromed alloy. It fitted fine, despite everyone saying it'd be a nightmare. Was it the correct one for your year etc?

leecalcars 20 February 2011 05:30 PM

when i tried to fit it james the pipework from the left corner coming up through the wing was missing the section to the turbo so binned it ,ive since bought an autobahn88 full kit so will be fitting this when it arrives ,bought it second hand from someone on here my fault really should have checked lesson learned it think !

jameswrx 20 February 2011 05:44 PM

I see. Does look like maybe earlier pipework with one of the pipes just cut in half.

jameswrx 20 February 2011 05:48 PM

Might help, this is the right pipework for your year. As I said, mine was ebay special and went on fine. I did use normal decent jubilee clips in the final fit as the clamps that came with it were not good enough (despite looking like ey would be)

Coming along nicely:cool:

leecalcars 26 February 2011 11:19 AM

Cheers mate a bit stuck at the mo waiting for parts ie intercooler pipework and oil cooler, booked in for custom cages end of april so cant really get on with much till then .

Got the aerocatch bonnet pins to fit to bonnet as soon as i get to garage again then that can go in for a spray then boot sprayed in matt black so just the locks to change over il post pics as soon as i get it back.

leecalcars 26 February 2011 05:17 PM

Had a really wet day but the small jobs still need to be done.

I fitted the areocatch pins today as i sold my steel bonnet and purchased an alloy one it was quite easy doing this job on my own as the bonnet weighs next to nothing .

So after marking out on the front slam panel where i wanted the studs to be mounted i located a reasonable position with the rubber stops and carefully marked round them ready for a pilot hole 5mm.
I then drilled these holes with a 12mm as this is the centre of the catch pin so making the marking out bit on the bonnet easier and should be a perfect fit and its there or there abouts so bonnet is now ready for paintas you can see.

Bonnet can now go in for paint having it matt black with 95h blue reverse scoop and blue bonnet vents to break up the colour a bit should look ok i hope !

I had the same, it reqd the pipes cutting and welding to get the fit anywhere near a good fit, plus I had to fabricate suitable mounting brackets to stop it rattling about.........

leecalcars 26 February 2011 08:21 PM

Is that on the autobahn88 kit thought these are a good fit !

172sport 26 February 2011 11:01 PM

and the bracket i made to stop the bottom of the cooler flapping about

Oh if you havn't already thought about it get a fuel swirl pot and external pump. Its a must if your off out on track, mine used to splutter with anything less than half a tank.

leecalcars 26 February 2011 11:19 PM

yes mate thanks for the the advice but thats my next purchase already have a walbro fuel pump fitted so will purchase a swirlpot and mount it in the boot next to the access panel for tank/pump.

172sport 27 February 2011 08:07 AM

I used the walbro as a lift pump into the swirl pot then a walbro external from the swirl pot to the injectors injectors.

My old setup
