Oh Baby...

BRING IT TO MIRA!!!!!!

It would be fabulous to have something even more exotic there than the Lola T-70 I was drooling over a few months ago!!

I'll look forward to seeing the pictures.

SDB 12 January 2000 05:35 PM

OK..

The dealer has offered me the following:-

the S4S (up at £27,950) for
my car (above) and £19,850.

Does this sound reasonable?

I have little idea what my car is actually worth. Also, the price of the Lotus is quite low anyway..

I can't be arsed to sell it privately unless it is really really easy but I should surely get more than 8K for it?

What do you think?

Cheers

Simon

Mike Rainbird 13 January 2000 11:29 AM

Dear Simon,
£8k trade in on your Scooby? I think they're being extremely generous! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
LOL
Mike
PS Only kidding (as if you didn't know!).

SDB 13 January 2000 11:40 AM

I told them I'd chuck in the 600BHP Cossie I let the kids play with in the garden, and they bumped it up to £8010.

So top price for the girl's car and bottom for mine kind of evens out!

Nightmare 13 January 2000 11:45 AM

They gave you ten quid for Mikes car? Thats incredible. I knew you'd be one smooth talking negotiator, but that almost defies belief...!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Threads 5 yrs old mate! But yes I think he did and was not wholly impressed IIRC.

rallyfan1977 13 October 2005 10:07 AM

I had a V8 for about 6 months - although a fair few things went wrong with it (including going back to Norfolk for a new engine under warranty)
It was, and still is, the fastest, most exciting thing I've ever driven.
Mine was a 98R plate (last of the square dash models) in bright red with lotus sports pipes and a serious spoiler

I miss it

8k for a 93 wrx, those were the days. Think my first wrx was 14k in 1998.

check out www. lotusespritworld.com for all the info you need.used to have a 1988 turbo.which i wrote off on a wet bend.didnt know about lift off oversteer i do now.one of the best looking cars on the road i.m.o.just a bit too flash although never suffered from jealous arseholes trying to scratch it etc. a real head turner.used to worry leaving it anywhere.glad i owned one not many people have.nowadays i want a stealth mobile.good luck.

:)

Them were the days!

Yes I did buy it in the end, and agree with some of the comments above, it was the most fantastic road car I've owned, and probably even that I've driven.

Unfortunately I got to know the road between my house and the Lotus dealer all to well and ended up giving it back.

As with rallyfan, I miss it dreadfully though, and seriously consider buying another one at least once every 3 or 4 months.

Handling to die for, proper "can't go into the house without staring at it for five minutes" looks, and stunning performance. Just the reliability which let it down.

I have driven one at MIRA on the limit so I am fully conversant with the handling etc but have no idea about what models are best or how reliable they are etc?

I would be using it as a main car (mostly local stuff and a 100 mile round trip every couple of days).

Anyone have any experience?

The main things I would be grateful to find out are:-
1) What models are fastest / best?
2) What should I be able to get for up to 20K
3) Reliability probs, etc?

Many thanks in advance,

Simon

Look at the models, drive them. if you like, then go for it!!

As with any car, though some sort of warranty (decent warranty) would be beneficial.

Mark A 08 November 2005 06:47 PM

"Should I buy a Lotus?" Not after watching 5th Gears attempt at 200mph in one.

Jeeez, I never noticed the date/time the thread was done. I don't recall it either.

Will check that in future for sure.
