Did you read a different article? Her points aside - which I disagree with to an extent but don't really care about - it's crap journalism, written by an angry little girl.

No. She doesn't speak for me, therefore not all women. I love TG :)

Better send her an email, she already has spoken for you :)

She's not well. I'll leave her alone :)

Scoobychick 03 October 2006 02:03 PM

What a crock of steaming poo that article is

J4CKO 03 October 2006 02:07 PM

Scoobychick, true but the ladies on this forum are the exception in that they like proper cars, they have more of the male perspective on these matters.

Not saying you are Chicks with Dicks but you arent typical girlies, and amen to that !

Indeed, my other half gets a bit horny during rapid acceleration :) :) :)

Duck_Pond 03 October 2006 02:13 PM

Surely she's just posted something akin to what Clarkson would, but targeting his normal supporting audience, and is chuckling at the response of boards like this? Like Clarkson's comments, this should be taken with a pinch of salt. :)

That said, I'm sure she has a few supporters, nodding in agreement.

Kev, what are the members of the Knitted Scarf Owners Club saying about this? ;)

MJW 03 October 2006 02:22 PM

Some of the comments that go with the article are pretty funny :

It had occurred to me. But seeing most of her previous literal drivellings hasn't been quite as damning or written in an oboiusly jokular context, I have no salt to take. Unlike Clarkson, who only ever writes in a semi-serious context.

I'll have to add that in my letter to the editor* that if she wasn't serious, then she needs to go back to school and learn about implying context and how to convey to the reader the degree of severity that she intends to portray. :)

*And I will spellcheck, punctuate and proof read it, unlike the often unreadable dross I usually type on this forum. :p

Neverguess 03 October 2006 02:29 PM

She's made lots of friends today, I bet she's happy :)

Doesn't seem to have many supporters of either gender according to the 'comments'.

However she is right about one thing - Top Gear has been axed and will never return. :(

Shy Muppet 03 October 2006 03:26 PM

Hmm, I've just read her article and I think it's a load of old ****e myself and she certainly is not speaking of my behalf either. Cheeky moo

Now, I'm not into cars AT ALL, but I can appreciate and recognise that men love their motors in what ever model, shape or colour it may be. Their interest/fascination/love of cars keeps them happy and out of our hair at the same time!!! ;) (PS: I'm not a shopoholic, plastic argmented, Paris Hilton (ugly moo) wanna be, fake girlie either!!).

I do love watching Top Gear :thumb: though. It's great TV.

Personally, I think she needs a good seeing too! Stop using the toys, love and get yourself a real man!!!

New_scooby_04 03 October 2006 03:40 PM

Do you think it might annoy her if I relate to her what two of my female mates said to me upon experiencing their first burst of acceleration in my Scooby:

"So Paul, have you had a shag in the back seat yet??"

All women don't like fast cars, my a*se! ;) :D

I can understand her point of view about the responsibility issue, but I think she has used her column to slate men which is wrong.
She is most certainly not speaking for all us women. I love fast cars, I have one. She has gone totally over the top, and made a bit of a fool of herself :)

I think she may have had tongue firmly in cheek when she wrote that article. Being a journalist she would know exactly what sort of reaction she would provoke with her comments. The woman is probably much cleverer than she is being given credit for.:)

No, my post was in agreement with you. I am struggling to argue with your logic meaning that I agree, if that makes sense!:D
