I can concur with Richard's thoughts.

My 330Ci would not go up inclines on fresh snow as the traction control kept cutting in and the car would move three inches and then cut all torque to the rear wheels it was a nightmare.

Whereas my electronic free 993 vanilla Carrera was fine in the snow as long as you were respectful, I never had a problem.

The Scoob was the best though!

Get yourself the dream car you want and a cheap Classic for the winter days you need it.

997 turbo: I liked the noise, but it was just as loud as the GTR. Astonishing traction, torque, acceleration, power. Ride was better than the GTR by some way, but I do gather the GTR settles after run in and on non run flats. The car we looked at was £5k more than a new GTR and needed discs/pads all round and new rear tyres, plus only 3 months of warranty left and 4 owners.

So, ordered a gunmetal GTR for mid/late July. Deposit paid. No going back now. I don't think most of the patients will mind, it is just a Datsun, and it has a proper boot.

I have a three year warranty. By that time there will be upgrades or I'll sell it.

Now I have a second car purchase decision to make, I need to buy or hire something for up to 2 months... I could get a cheap runabout that should be easy to sell or good enough to keep if required.

Indeed thats a great idea to put non run flats on it- you might if you really want to experiment use some of the bilstein shockers they play with over in Japan; or ask Litchfeld who I'm sure knows how to get these to settle down a bit.

Looked awesome.

I just found out that next month Litchfeld will offer adjustable AST suspension- presumably created for uk roads-- for the GT-R.....

Presently shopping for a shed to do me for the next six weeks, car hire will be about £700 so may as well buy something then sell it. Can't find anything locally at shed prices, so had a look at a few Mondeo/Focus at about £2600-3200, and they are sheds as well. Probably need to go to the auctions.

Hi Paul, I'm less into the reading/writing the ECU flash images and more into analysing and changing the code in the images. I doubt there will be enough about to have openecu solution, Cobb have a solution already, but I don't think they give the end user to the flash image.

saw an r35 parked up at a jap show a while back, was suprised just how big it is, looked huge and bloated. i thought i would love it, ive had an r32gtr and an r33gtr in the past and loved them both, yet these new ones do nothing for me at all, absolutely nothing. strange.

It is larger/heavier than I would like, but it doesn't feel large when driven. My only real objection is the firm ride, and given the number of objections I had to everything else I'll just have to hope I can put up with it. It doesn't seem to be knocked off line by bumps, it is just a low speed/town comfort issue. I rarely do roads like that anyway.

The look pretty cool. I see the dealer oppo where i work get half a dozen or so every week now....no-one seems to go for bright colours though. I think a Red or electric Blue one would look really good.

Followed one last Saturday on my Suzuki GSXR750, it was black and looked pretty mean, seemed to "hop" a bit over the bumpy bits, still had him on the dual carriage way :p

Strangely it is probably true. After doing more and more miles in my GT3 I would say that the very firm suspension (hard but TOTALLY different to a hard STI or Evo for example) seems to have settled in.

Of course on a 25k mile car this is not really likely.

What is likely however is that I have become attuned to it and the car now 'feels' much more compliant than when I first got.

Oh, crap, a long winded way of saying you'll get used to the harshness ;)

Anyway - congratulations - I hope you enjoy it. It is a car firmly at the centre of my wish list post-GT3; unless a 997 GT2 jumps up and bites me at the right price!
