Hi Everyone,

Been away for a couple of days..........Have I missed much?

Martin

StickyMicky 26 March 2005 05:39 PM

well i went and bought a white wing from a 97 import today for £50
had a small chip on it, which i could repair easy enough, just needed a good polish and wax

cleaned it up and found its got loads of little ripples and dents all over it
not sure what to do with it tbh

i might get a dents bloke out for a quote on the one thats fitted at presant, sure he could remove the dents and spray a small section in, would save having a full wing painted?

would have been better of giving a homeless bloke £50

SUBTYPER 26 March 2005 06:10 PM

...or £10 for a V10 Viper engine;)

Luminous 26 March 2005 07:12 PM

too expensive :D

Ninnybobs 26 March 2005 10:08 PM

Cars clean at the moment and the 2.5lt has yet to be proven.

Think I'll save me 2 quid ;)

Maybe give me money to Mickey, cause I'm feeling sorry for him :)

gravelexpress 27 March 2005 06:27 PM

does anyone know which 17" alloy wheel and tyres are suitable for fittingto a "classic"

im looking at compomotive MO 7 x 17
and speedline 2018 competition 2 7 x 17

just wondering if they clear the 4 pot calipers??

also I understand tyres for 17s have to be either

205 x 45
or
215 x 40

but will other 17 tyres fit???

richiewong 27 March 2005 08:56 PM

2018 wheels are GT1's but in magnesium that means a hell of a lot of money per wheel:eek:

Go for the 2113 road version which should be available in 17's.
Classic tyres are usually the limited range 205/45 or the better choice 215/40.
Some people fit 215/45 with absolutley no problems but may effect speedo readings according to the blurb:D

I thin the words p1ss and brewery come to mind with my organisational skills:D

gravelexpress 27 March 2005 09:29 PM

215 x 45 hmm

well the car is slowly but surely being converted into a dedicated track car
does that mean I could fit R888 toyos in this fitment

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...d=m12b99s685p0

closest i can find is 235 x 45 x 17

or

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...m12b0s697p1598

or 235 x 40 x 17

I am not sure these will be right??

richiewong 27 March 2005 09:31 PM

IMHO too big and would scuff like nobody's business, ask Alyn and see what he would recommend:thumb:

richiewong 27 March 2005 09:33 PM

Tyre Converter for 205/50/16 wheels

gravelexpress 27 March 2005 09:39 PM

I have a feeling that I may stick with 16`s because it is so difficult to find cut slicks in
a subaru fitment.

If I get compo MO`s or speedlines Comp II in 16 x 7 size - do you think they will be ok with the 4 pots??

thanks for the help richie

richiewong 27 March 2005 09:44 PM

Should clear the 4 pots, remember sometimes the offset may be right(ET) eg 45 to 55 on a scoob, but the spoke design is more important in clearing the caliper.
Compomotive and Speedline have been long associated in producing designs for scooby fitment:D

That'll do it alright, good find Martin:D

gravelexpress 28 March 2005 12:06 AM

so those babies will fit - despite not being in the 45 - 55 % profile??

I will give him a bell soon as!!

StickyMicky 28 March 2005 09:44 AM

not sure if it helps, but you can run 215/45/17`s on the jap cars as they dont have the bigger rear arch lip cover thingy bobs

well they fit on mine fine and thats the reason i figured they went on ok with? (does that make any sense, it doesnt when i reread it lol)

richiewong 28 March 2005 10:06 AM

Also if its a Type R it should not have a plastic wheel arch liner and should clear with 215/45/17, just like Micky said:D
Had 215/40 on my Type R and still had loads of clearence.

richiewong 28 March 2005 11:09 AM

Bank Holiday Monday, woo hoo.
Same old sh1t different day:p

STi Paul 28 March 2005 11:20 AM

If its for a track car, a smaller overall circumference(sp) would help your accelleration, it would also lower the top speed, but since you will be hard pushed to get over 100ish you wont be looking for that.
At croft, I was getting around 110 at the end of the straight, before having to brake hard for the corner.
For a track car you need suspension, tyres, brakes, and acceleration in that order.
Just my limited experience - i had the tyres(pirelli RSsomething, ask Alyn) and brakes(AP 6pots), and reasonable acceleration, but it was always the suspension that let me down.
