Payback time?

Goal that crossed the line not given, is it retribution for the one that WAS given in '66?

Could be the one thing that ends up changing football for the better, we are almost certain to get goal-line technology now..........aren't we?

Trout 27 June 2010 04:09 PM

If we don't win this one is going to run and run and run and run and run and run....

richie001 27 June 2010 04:45 PM

What a shocking performance, completely outclassed

Dutch Scooby lover 27 June 2010 04:51 PM

A shame the goal was not given, could have changed the game.
I hope those old binheads @ Fifa and UEFA decide to allow video technology, because this is just getting very silly indeed.

Tomwrx 27 June 2010 04:51 PM

the best team won,

forget lampards goal that wasnt given, no one complained in for that goal in 66.

they were crap in the group stages and have been poor since it started,

david james was englands best player today

Trout 27 June 2010 04:57 PM

Are you saying that with a straight face - he closed his eyes and turned away on goal three. He was lucky, yes; good, no!

chocolate_o_brian 27 June 2010 05:13 PM

Well FIFA will be happy. Their pet hate are out so it leaves either a European or South American team to win it :(

It's a shame Sepp and Platini have such a deep veined hatred against England - why???

Bravo2zero_sps 27 June 2010 05:19 PM

Just heard Steven Gerrard's interview on R5.He said that the result was closer than the score make's out :lol1:

Dutch Scooby lover 27 June 2010 05:42 PM

The FIFA and UEFA do not have a thing against England I think, they are just complete technophobes. If you see American Football for example, why can't we make something like that.(Coach can appeal a decision, when he loses they lose a time out)
Adapt this to soccer , so something like 4 substitiutions instead of 3, and when losing an appeal you lose a substitution.
Give them a 2 challenge maximum, to stop delibetare delaying of the game.

This way we can stop these appaling decisions, because , lets face it, even Stevie Wonder could see the ball was a GD feet across the line. The referee won't be selected anymore, but that is kind f pointless for England.

pauld37 27 June 2010 06:04 PM

We got what we deserved, played poorly in all the games. Rooney must've been injured :(

alcazar 27 June 2010 06:07 PM

The goal that wasn't has really had no effect, we would still have losy 3-1.

What HAS happened is that the team that I said would be shown up by a CLASS team, when we met one, after watching us in the group stages, met a class team.........and were shown up stiff.

HOW many times was Terry caught out of position?
HOW slow was Upson?
HOW many times were Cole and Johnson caught out of position roaming upfield, then not quick enough to get back before the Germans ripped us apart again?
HOW many passes did Rooney and Gerrard put to feet?
How many times did Rooney have NO CLUE what to do, even when given the ball?
And if Barry is a world class defender, then so am I:D

Kick and rush football.........we'd have been beaten by Riddings Infants "B" reserves.

Capello to walk.
Terry never to pull on an england shirt again.
Rooney to PROVE he can do it before being selected for England A again.
Cole and Johnson to go on a course to learn what a fullback DOES;)

Dutch Scooby lover 27 June 2010 06:26 PM

Maybe the hopes of England were to high strung, and for example , Rooney cracked under the pressure.

After a good pre Worldcup run (but against what teams??) the punters were expecting nothing more then a (won) final , and harshly put, the team has nowhere near enough quality for that to happen.
Defense is lacking in speed ,and seemed to be lacking insight to make up for that.
Midfield is lacking in tactical sense, and not enough creativity.
Offense was, well, non-existent.

If you look at just the defenders, they cocked up a number of times, and no-one was there to cover their mates back. The German defense was cocking up some times also, but the difference is that they were backing each other up, with Friedrich, who is a medium player at best (just looking at the theoretical facts) becoming the star of the German defence.

You can actually submit England in this piece of text for Holland, because I can not seeing them become champions, despite our nations hopes on the team as well.
They too have a far too unbalanced team to become champions.

You need a team, not just 11 good players, and even then even those 11 good players we cannot seem to field, with some definate sub standard defenders for example (Heitinga,v Bronckhorst and the Jong are sure to cock up fotr example)

I took my family out to lunch after not seeing them for nearly two years, booked it two weeks ago for 15:00 today :lol1:, we had the joint to ourselves, I expected a 5-0 humiliation, sister checked the net through her phone at 16:45 4-1 PMSL, left the restaurant shortly after only to witness some pissed up **** punching his girlfriend to the ground, not once but twice as we are driving out of the car park, really shook my little girl up, wellcome back to Britain. What a sh1t hole.

Having now seen the highlights, we were outclassed, never got going in this tournament, if anything we just imploded from day one, shocking stuff, too many over paid over inflated ego's.

Plus side ? the young mexican United have signed, Hernandez :thumb:

That was a class goal yesterday :thumb:

All the Rio haters can say what they like but I have no doubt wed have played better with him in defence & as captain. Ledley King was surely a better pick than that chimp upson even with his dodgy knees? Walcott would have been just the player to bring on and stretch the germans.

You seriously have to wonder what was up in the England camp. My gut feeling is it all stems from John Terrys misdemeanour as that whole thing of speaking against Capello to the press with no backing from the others players shows something was not right.

It pains me to say it but I thought Lampard was the best of a bad bunch yesterday. At least if you take his arm flapping before Orzil toasted Barry (who was joint 1st as most useless player with Rooney).

I think there is some truth in the rumours that all was not well in the England camp. All these egos used to getting their every whim, especially under Sven and Maclaren - suddenly under the Capello regime for 40+ days.

I'd like to see a complete cull of all players that will be too old for the next WC now, use a young team for the Euro qualifiers and let them experience Euro 2012 to prpare them the the pressure cooker situation a tournament creates.

Capello should stay, let Harry Rednap have a year in the champions leauge and then let him take over for the final year of euro qualifiers.

Jay m A 28 June 2010 01:33 PM

Also the Lampard goal was a huge turning point of the game. Yes we were poor, but if that goal had stood it would have been 2-2 at half time with England with the momentum

The 2 goals conceeded in the 2nd half were all due to us chasing the game. The 2nd half would have been completely different had it started 2-2.

Germany were the better team and probably would have won it anyway at 2-2, but thanks to yet again poor officials we will never know.

IIRC the officials are all about equality rather than quality. Which is why you have a sh1t ref from say Algeria reffing a group game that wouldn't be fir to ref a conference game.

Proffesional refs should be used only, if that means most refs are from the EU then so be it. The World cup is supposed to the best tournament, it needs the best teams (rather than weak nations) and the best officials irrespective of origin

Turbo2 28 June 2010 03:47 PM

Arjen Robben

When are defenders going to learn that they need to stop him cutting in from the wing and firing in a shot? He does it all the time, a bit like Chris Waddle of old: as soon as they found him out, he was dead-meat. Keep him on the wing and see if he can get a cross in.

Ashley Young at Villa is another one.

Come on Paul even as a die hard Chelsea fan you have to see that Terry was shockingly bad. None of the back 4 played well and were all out of place every time we were defending.

I can't stand Rio Ferdinand but it shows in the back 4 when he isn't playing as they are totally disorganised without Ferdinand to lead the line. Even had Ferdinand been able to play it wouldn't have changed the fact our midfield was totally devoid of any creativity.

Rebuilding the team is one thing but you need to have the players good enough to do so and I don't think they exist in the Premiership.

Robben doesn't like the Psychical side of the game,I can remember a game against Blackburn and Lucas Neill kicked him out of the game so bad that Jose had to take him off.

Bravo2zero_sps 29 June 2010 04:58 PM

Not surprising seeing how susceptible he is to injury!

I think there is a lot more to this story than what's we've (England fans)have been told.
