That WAS an awesome car Phil Keen took me around Donington with it :thumb::thumb: he was an awesome drive too drove it like it was a toy. :notworthy

Back on topic

I like everyone else did what the OP wanted ;) the title including "limited to 10" was the "bait" which was cleverly place above a very unique project. As they say no publicity is "bad"

With no human interest this may not taken up by a TV show but with lots of Internet interest easier to "sell" to producers.

If the tille said building a Ring beating car circa £65 and in the Thread we could even build one for at £72 due to VAT etc. there would have been far less of a "mass Debate". :freak3:

Top gear would not be where it is today without all the "planned" controversy ;)

IMHO

Revolution good luck with the track attempt. I'm certain everyone will be cheering you on :thumb:

Ps 11/10 for title
10/10 for thread

Worlasshasansti 29 March 2013 07:53 PM

So the base car was a hawk eye then?

Only I keep hearing it was a bug or blob with front end conversion, I only ask as this would obviously save ££££'s from the outset, would also make sense to me as I can't see any point in starting with a dearer shell only to weld doors up etc and change it so much.

Regards

Mick

nyscooby 29 March 2013 10:31 PM

Give me £58,999 and i'll build you a car.......

4 doors will be an option, for those who want to go shopping.

Add £10 for a roof vent.
Add £12 for a red stripe.

Seriously, for £60k i'd want the body panels to fit flush... and a bolt on spoiler?

EFA. and I dont mean afford it literally but rather have so much disposable income that they can afford to spend money on a collection piece, just because they know/think they will have the best Impreza out there.

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 09:22 AM

Collection piece.:lol1: The Gobstopper is a collection piece.:thumb:

I don't mean to be un kind, but it's nothing of the sort, at the end of the day it's a modded impreza with a chav fibre glass body kit, thats been poorly fitted or designed and had the back doors welded shut.

Having thought about my earlier responses, i now think they are just making themselves look a little silly with a price tag of £72k, i mean come on realistically, would anyone who had that sort of money to splash on a Subaru spend it with them, i personally think they would seek out the best in the business and commission their own, because to want a car like this, one would have to be a Subaru nut, and as such would be quite knowledgable about the mark and the top tuners.

No disrespect to Revolution but their name is hardly synonymous within the subaru tuning community such as the likes of Prodrive, Cosworth, RCM, Engine Tuner, API, Scooby Clinic, Latteral Performance, Andy Forest, I could go on and on, Tbh they don't even get close to the bottom of a very long list, which is obviously part of the object of the exercise to raise their profile and generate new business and get the community talking about them, and fair play to them for actually succeeding in that, i don't have a problem with people putting in the work to get the rewards, i genuinely wish them all the best and shall be following their climb up the ladder with interest, i hope they do more of this sort of thing and eventually make it up to the top of the list as it can only be good for the community.

Now i now theres a couple of slaps in there but at least i ended with a pat on the back, treat em mean and keep em keen. :lol1:

Kwik 30 March 2013 09:48 AM

I wonder how many full-blown replica's RCM have made since the gobstopper @ the same price.

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 10:01 AM

I'd wager there's a few in the UAE and Bahrain.

I agree where your coming from. I think OP has perhaps missed an opportunity. To make there "own" branded "affordable" wants from this venture ;) and run say a standard Sti along side the track car with all the stage 3 bits on as well. Eg. Race car £72k 7:20 and stage 3 Sti £20k 7:48

Eg Revolution Ringmaster Stage 1 handling RR handling Pack £1K stage 3 £3k
RR performance pack 1,2 & 3 etc etc. At least after the £72k car does beats the time. I hope. It will leave everybody wanting a part/Pack that's proven successful and not a collection of bits thrown from hell frauds at their Car.

Although there local reputation seems good as you say, they are probably at wrong end of the list for national Subaru repute. So in these hard times a brave move to improve their respect. As there is more that could go wrong than right on a venture like this. IMHO

How do you know they don't intend to offer "Pack/Stage" upgrades? Also there is the 10 week write up in Jap Performance, the Evo article and the future media, which I am sure would have cost more than the build price to purchase in the mainstream. And theres the 4200 views on this thread, which is in effect the mecca of subaru after all :lol::lol:

Agreed, they must be confident of beating the current Impreza record.

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 12:02 PM

To be fair the record was set in a car with circa 320bhp, if they can't beat it with 500+bhp over 17 km they should pack up and go home, i'm no race driver by any stretch of the imagination and i only managed 1 lap of the ring when i went as they closed it due to the weather, but give me 20 laps and i recon i'd beat it with 500 bhp.:lol1:

Kwik 30 March 2013 12:06 PM

Agreed, unless the car hasn't been set up well. But this video has 577,000 hits.

Empty track also?

Any idea who's driving the revolution car?

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 01:24 PM

Somewhere in the thread they mentioned a paid racing driver, but as i said they would probably be better off letting one of the ring taxi drivers do it, either that or i'll do it for free as long as they pay the expenses.:D

Which i think is a better idea and way to showcase their achievements even more so, with the headline "Average joe beats ring record in our car" :king:

nyscooby 30 March 2013 01:31 PM

"local reputation" - I've never set foot in there in my life..... I live 10 miles away.

There is a wealth of talented guys round here, Alyn Stockton, Andy Kindon.....

Bob Rawle is a regular up here for Mapping as is AndyF to mention a few....

Fill in the blanks, i know where my money goes...

This thread is very odd......

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 01:47 PM

Having looked at the vid above maybe i'd need 30 or 40 laps.:lol1:

Lol. The more i think about it the Revolution car will have an uphill struggle. It wasn't just anyone driving for the last record, and the track was clear.

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 03:50 PM

Just as a point of reference, one of these can be had for £30k and i think the new ones with 3yrs warranty are circa £50k.

Cough, what time is it.

if they break the record I wonder how much they will get in dvd sales etc

REVOLUTION 30 March 2013 05:03 PM

DVD's - lots hopefully...of course we would do discount for scoobynet members
;-)

GTR for 30k will be a clanker of a car, decent early ones with 476bhp are still 40k as thats when they seem to be coming in to us for parts..

new ones are 76k and 82k for a track spec one, with bilsteins and erm' blue seats..

Last year we passed two GTR's on our warm up lap, great cars but you sure that 7.29 time was done in a "std" car on "std" tyres....?

Can you imagine if we could get near or beat that time - that would be amazing...

Lap times are great headlings.....but as long as your smile is big when you drive your scoob on track (even if its std) that means youre having fun.. and surely thats what counts..!

Is it me or does Tommy's car sound a little *ahem* different?

ditchmyster 30 March 2013 05:27 PM

I stand corrected, but a quick look on piston heads revealed these few examples, last one even has 2yrs warranty left.
