Engine seems fine, you only need about 1.1-1.2 bar to do that.
Gearbox has been an issue with clutch slip if you go too high on the torque, but uprated clutches are now available. Some have damaged first gear with the old launch control and wheel hop, but uprated first gears are now available. Some have had 800+ BHP working fine on the stock engine and gearbox in endurance events. Some are still having troubles with metal fragments blocking one of the gearbox solenoids, seems to be a first year JDM/US problem, and usually fixed with a flush or clean out. Warranty is an issue as the engine and gearbox are ruinously expensive, but with 600 BHP worth of turbo, injector and fuel pump sitting there are as standard... with just exhaust, tuning and actuators to actually hit 600 BHP... they will get modified a lot I think as with turbo upgrades you're at Veyron power to weight ratios. Are you happy having such an expensive to repair car with no warranty? |
UK car, but we're talking generally about the potential of them, not about my car which will stay standard.
|
I'll give it three weeks.

remapped 135 or 335 woudnt stand a snow balls chance in hell against an m3 on anything other than a straight road. Bit of a price difference though. standard 335i is a bit disappointing the engine sounded great but it didnt feel particularly fast or give me the same 'Ive got to have this feeling' as the m3 did (couldnt afford either though was just day dreaming!).
We are just finishing a 135i that should be pushing around 450bhp. We hope to race it against a supercar for a magazine article :norty: The GTR is a great car. We've had a few on our dyno lately and I have to say that the car is amazing looking, sounding and drives with great stability and urgency. Top Buy John!! Congrats GTR Dyno Video |
Nice one evolve, I'm getting to know Ben rather well :) You may be seeing more of him for some MBT work on ignition and development of valve timing when he has his car back from Forge I hope.

Bens got some good results so far and I'm sure he'll be back in soon. It's so good to have companies like Forge here for development work. They developed the intercooler for our 135i/335i. When you get your car, please feel free to arrange a GTR meet at our place with Ben.......not to put it on the rollers of course :nono: |
Of course not ;)
|
Just seen one for the first time - a lot bigger than I thought.
|
They dont feel big when your driving them, and the best colour is.........
http://i684.photobucket.com/albums/v...bin/gt-r-1.jpg :D |
Yoza - is that your then?
I like them a lot - just wish they were more 911 sized. |
Seen six today, common as muck ;)
......all being unloaded from a transporter at the dealers - all in grey :lol1: |
Can't wait until Thursday, picking up my UMS Black Edition!!! 19 months of wait nearly over!!!
|
Hope it's not from Oxford Nissan ;)
|
Not mine, well not all of it.......it belongs to a finance company. :D
|
Yoza - two watches and a GTR on finance...
Mad but I like it! |
Finance and '12 months interest free' credit are two totally different things. :)
And its 3 watches in hock, not two.......live for today, your along time dead! |
I see there are 'black' and 'premium' additions. Whats the difference?
I've only seen grey in the flesh, and wasn't impressed by the colour. I see there is an ultimate silver, is this just a normal silver or is there something special about the paintwork? Whats peoples thoughts on best colour, I'm thinking 1) Black 2) White (the new black) 3) Red (too loud?) |
I've seen about 20+ of them now if not more....only seen White, Grey/silver and Black - all look pretty naff imo. Red would be good or a bright Blue.
|
I don't think they look naff at all. Obviously they have a very Jap look, but then it is Japan's most famous sports car!
At the performance for the price it would have to look like a pig not to be a contender, and its no pig in the way modern scoobs or evos are. For anybody who has driven one, in terms of handling, does it feel nimble and agile, or heavy and cumbersome? |
The more I see these cars, the more I like them. :luvlove:
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...y/CIMG2206.jpg Just had one in doing some testing on different maps. It's got a complete decat and put down 571bhp :thumb: >See Dyno Video Here< |

Got anymore pics of that white GTR, ie from the side etc?

As you can see White is the best colour.
That GT-R looked like it wanted to side step the rollers there, I see you didnt floor it and layed off as it wandered to the nearside.. :) |
I like the roof line and the rear window and quarters. I've been noticing that as they drive by every day and that ^^^ pic shows it really well.
It reminds me of another car but i can't think which one? White is nice and a lot better than Grey/silver/Black which like i said make it look a bit naff and boring but i think a big loud fast car needs a big loud fast colour. |

Thanks evolve. The car that put down 570 BHP, was tha just with exhaust or remap as well? If the latter, what are you using? After market ECU or reprogramming the original one?

I'm sure we haven't seen the last of that car yet. |
