£130 is a good price, compared to 2005 when I paid £250:D

Changed mine to STi pinks back then, depends what turbo you going for if your going to change them!:wonder:

Your answer....

2.5 STI PPP
316 BHP
332llbs
0-60 - 4.8
0-100 - 12.2
30-70 - 4.7

2.5 WRX PPP
266 BHP
310 llbs
0-60 - 5.3
0-100 - 14
30-70 - 5.2

Looks to me like the 2.0L WRX PPP is still the daddy.:lol1:

53 24 November 2013 08:52 PM

Makes good reading, utter fiction in reality :) Most PPP WRX's don't make anywhere near 261bhp as claimed, mine certainly didn't and nor did my mates :) When questioned the dealer wasn't that excited about the PPP either :lol1:

Generic maps FTL :)

Must be a Prodrive masterpiece the blob WRX PPP, have Prodrive come up with anything quicker since then???:wonder:

Those figures are available for everyone to read on the prodrive website - they're not plucked out of the sky. what can't speak can't lie...

I find them surprising too bearing in mind the extra torque of the 2.5. Maybe the hawkeye is heavier? Just a guess

Because you implied your age prohibited the purchase of an STi :)

An STi will be cheaper to insure than a WRX with retro fitted parts to get to the 'same' spec :)

SRSport 24 November 2013 09:22 PM

I would love to get a Spec D STI but the weak engines going pop means that a WRX would be the only consideration. Not much point in having the go faster version when it's sitting stationary on the hard shoulder.

pflowers 24 November 2013 09:27 PM

I think I am right in saying the STI wont reach 60 in second gear whereas the WRX will so that's why the WRX is quicker on paper due to one less gear change?

the 2.5 wrx engine has the same issues

The 2001-2005 Newage WRX wasn't allowed to challenge, or surpass for that matter, the STI, the PPP figures were closer to 225 than 261 and the Cat up-pipe might as well be known as an 'STI blush saving device.'

As for 0-60 I can imagine both are about 5.5 in standard trim with an actual 261bhp WRX making the STI wish it could trade its 265bhp enabling gearbox, block and brakes for a jet engine...

I rolling roaded my PPP at AET and found it gave 187.3 at the wheels. After a remap I got to the prophesied 260bhp and I've yet to see an STI, mainly classics, get within 30 yards of my car when I'm up to the legal limit. :notworthy

who are you trying to convince?? my mrs has a wrx mapped to nearly 280bhp and my sti will destroy it on road and drag strip, we even have a video.

5 runs at pod guess the result

5-0 to the sti

My mapped PPP WRX was 270/272 :lol1: and while it was awesome and I could drive it pretty well it was slow compared to my Spec D, STi Wagon and GC8 WRX lol :) Comparing it to my current RA Spec C would just be silly :D

My WRX would keep up with any car to 60-70ish but as soon as you hit 3rd it feels like you've parked up.

I had a blast from the lights with a classic STI once and I was gone, must have been a 60 foot lead within seconds, then all of a sudden I approached 3rd, it felt like slow motion and I could actually hear his Turbo spool up from quite a distance behind. I presume after a casual launch his 2nd gear was coming to life, it must have been huge but deadly laggy. He was certainly coming, but luckily the road ran out. :luxhello:

thats the comedy point here, even at the same power the sti is still faster.

the longer gearing to get to 60 in 2 gears rather then three mean nothing in the real world.

It'll feel slower because of the long ratios and it's heavier. Trust me it'll hurtle to 60 if you are brave with the revs and change smooth into 2nd.

Forget 3rd, just slam on and make like you've proved your point!!!

Indeed, peak power is pretty uninteresting, it's what's beneath the VF35's map curve that is going to be of far more interest than that under the TD04's :)

On the short country roads around Wakey it's everything, there's nothing could escape Billy unless it was a rare 3rd gear straight.

Jesus I just left it in 2nd racing a 380bhp Evo 5 for 5 miles, I was never off the boost! That's also when I discovered a strange smell.

When I nearly hit the back of an RS4 through rapid 2nd gear acceleration SPEC C nearly came into my head quicker than what the airbag would have.

sorry i was talking facts i didnt realise we were discussing your fast and furious dreams.

i like many above have had a wrx and know what they are like in fact my mrs still has a tuned one, the sti will beat it hands down i suggest you try one.

Seriously though when I first got the WRX I thought it was very slow, I was launching at 3k and changing at 6k. Everything spanked me, in a last desperate bid I launched against an STI at 5k and changed at 7,200 and it was a revelation.

Then you know what came?
