They are very big and you know it when your in one. I had the V-spec II, it is rear wheel drive with the 'ability' to switch to 4 wheel drive if the back axle slips. Never spun it once. It just wouldn't do it, even in the rain. Jeremy clarkson ould attempt to make a Zamboni go sideways if he got paid enough. I had HKS suspension so was a little bumpy.
GTs cars are slippy back spinning death traps however. |
I guess coz Im really tiny (5'), the skyline just turns me on :D Wouldn't need a bloke - just go sit in my car every night lol. They just look the dog boll ox.... especially with the embossed SKYLINE logo on the boot lid - yes, I am shallow!
|
My lass was smitten by it too, sent you a pic, keep it to yourself!!!
|
I hope its not lezzie.. contrary to popular belief, I am not that way inclined :D
Edit.. OK.. I f ucking hate you! That looks fan****ingtastic.!!!! |
I'd love to see Clarkson drive an evo or Scoob round a street circuit or even a closed of high street and see his 'back end out' driving style that thrills the nation last more than four seconds. I'm not a mug i can see what you say bout certain items being staged etc but i can also see that the FQ would definitely hold its own against the cars like murcielago with its 400bhp and the yaw control etc. I'm don't support the Evo or scoob in particular i am just adding another case where there is disillusion (spelling?) amongst the top end of the scooby market. As far as i can see it will always be a running battle between evo and scoob as far as power goes, its been tit for tat with BhP for ages now and will no doubt continue. Like i said before you like what you like and hate what you hate Rob |
all about choices, did you buy your car to pose or to drive seems to be the real question...I think my MY00 is fantastic but I've been seriously thinking about selling my scoob and going back to my company car scheme and getting a new Focus. They look pretty shady but if they drive anything like the mkI's then they are going to be more fun on the road than any quick car because you can sit on the ragged edge of its handling abilities without hitting stupid speeds...
|
VERY good point Trails - fun factor can be had in any decent handling car.

But I like lift off over steer, I like hugely predictable front wheel drift and all at speed you can enjoy on almost every roundabout with out risking losing either license or limbs:) |
It's a shame that you feel that way ImprezaWR1 however you have to do what you think is right. When it comes to sports/performance cars we all love them for different reasons. It would be boring if we all agreed that a certain car was the best and no others came close.
Good luck with the Evo (beautiful cars IMO) I do hope that you'll be getting a limited edition model such as the TME if not in the future when the Evo is more common/popular (it will happen) you'll be looking back saying "I wish I'd kept my WR1 as the Evo is too common now". :) |
The Evo will become more common, Mitsubushi, with the 8 have aimed at a lower end of the market as well, as they have the Evo 260 as an entry level car. They are also offering 3 years free servicing in a bid to tempt new owners to the marque.
I fear we have all digressed from one important point though. The chap how started this thread sold his WR1 months ago and this is just a bloody wind up! |
So he's a w@nk then chris, sorry troll, sorry w@nk
:D |
.....the guy was a dreamer and has never owned a Scoob in his life!
|
All i can tell you is that if someone can find a pic of the EVO 10, i have a pic at home but not there right now so cant post.....
Its naff!!! There will be zero sales of the EVO 10 the way it looks, awfull. Can someone please find a pic and post here..? |

i think you might agree its not in the same league as the Evo and Scoob are right now.
|
Is this thread lost ??????????
|
Gone - totally :(
|
The last few pages haven't been about the title at all.
Logic = cars get cheaper as they get older, there for if a person has £X, the chioce of a Impreza, or vectra, or mondeo, for £X, what would you chose. |
And that has bog all to do with a WR1.
Next time you buy a car, THINK, you never know, your new toy might depriciate too. |
;)
|
True, scoobies are now more popular today than they were a few years back, but surely thats a good thing for everyone involved in the whole scene! If somebody wants exclusivity when buying a car, maybe something more exotic, and thus more expensive, should be considered.....
|
I'll tell you what - who cares one iota whether they are common - they are miles better than most cars on the road... I should know, I have just taken charge of a loan vehicle, a brand new ford fiesta and it flippin well stinks! I have seen more guts in a disembowelled murder suspect!!
|
thats the point though soulgirl, are they?
modern engines are getting better all the time, modern cars are moving on in leaps and bounds, wasnt that long ago that the sporty cav was sri 130, the yard stick has moved on but the classic scooby hasnt |
Perhaps because the scoob, evo etc were way ahead anyway? And although I would like another 30bhp too much is wasted as it's unusable on the road. I feel so pathetic in this fiesta, no acceleration - it's just horrid :(
|
How can the classic scoob move on? By definition it can't becuase it ceased to be made in 2000/2001!
The Impreza has evolved with the market, hence why you Subaru UK are now marketing the STi in the UK. With the PPP option I don't hink there's much to compete with it in its category, other than the EVO obviously. If that's not moving with the yard stick I dont know what else is?! The classic scoob achieved "performance car of the decade" and rightly so in its time. There's still no other car for the money, other than the EVO base model with the 0-60 and handling capability for 20k. And dont try and compare it to a Clio of Civic Type R :p They came out a few years back but still no quicker than a 92 WRX. MB |
Elise?
thats point though, soulgirl is comparing to a classic, they have evolved into newage. Scoobies are not the be all and end all for the price bracket. as for useable power, 30bhp wont tip you over the edge unless you are very incompetent... |
Elise isnt in the same category though, completely different kettle of fish being a N/A RWD 2 seater sports car. Tis good though.
I still think there's nothing to match them all round as a performance car in their price bracket. Trying to think of what else there is now LOL. Just remembered a quote from EVO on the RB5 WR Sport - think it was "ultimate classic" or "best Impreza ever" Back to the topic though :) Yes they are too common, victim of their own success. And yes, you're a bit of a tool to buy a £30k car and not realise what you were buying, and then being put off by the image?? Agree on the 30 bhp ;) More the better, 350 is easily useable :D MB |
Only because I have an old one Peanuts... I could only compare to what I know :) You were the one to mention that nothing had moved forward :)
Besides, the additional 30 will make a lot of difference - it did when I gain 25 the last time :) The extra 30 would take me to 310. |

4wd for similar money would have been the escort cos, albeit, its got the usual dodgy ford problems until their modded. unfortunately I think the quote was from autocar as well. dont get me wrong, I drive a mildly tuned classic and its great, but take away the traction from standstill and it can be left lacking by certain lesser cars still pissed over a wr1 yesterday though on the on slip to the m27, you know who you are ;) |
