Paul - Is Tobisausage (or something like that) a mod?
Implied that perhaps AudiLover had gone the same way too.

Which rather made my afternoon!

Had a quick drive in a 206GTi and it felt pretty slow, the engine was harsh, the chassis felt mushy and the brakes were very grabby.

Wasn't keen at all.

A step way back compared to the 306GTi-6.

I think Peugeot have lost the plot since the 306 GTi/Rallye.

I drove a sorted 205 GTi a few years ago and i cant think of a car that has come close since in terms of involvement and steering feel.

Matteeboy 11 January 2007 07:56 PM

Chief - Agreed. Sounds like the new 207GT is back on form though so maybe the Gti will be good too.

At last!!!

Lets hope so:)

Gear Head 11 January 2007 08:21 PM

Thanks for all the advice people! :thumb:
I have narrowed it down to either the gti-6 or a late Prelude 2.2vti.
I know the prelude isn't really a hatch back, but a friend of mine used to have a civic 1.6vti and the noise when it came on cam was sexual! :D

Wonder how long it will take audilover/vapid/torpid to register and start slagging people off again!

AudiLover 11 January 2007 08:24 PM

Im still here you twats and im not torpid. Torpid does talk the truth though, but ruffles alot of feathers whilst doing so. The MK3 Golf GTI was a joke like he said.

davyboy 11 January 2007 08:43 PM

I don't think anyone would have thought you and Torpid were the same person.

He actually posts some good stuff in between making people look stupid.

AudiLover 11 January 2007 08:50 PM

SO YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I MAKE YOU AND OTHERS LOOK STUPID.

davyboy 11 January 2007 08:55 PM

Only someone as incredibly dumb as you would actually think that and type it out.

:lol1:

if you say so mr opinionated asshole.

davyboy 11 January 2007 08:58 PM

I'd hazard a guess it isn't just me saying it.

davyboy 11 January 2007 09:00 PM

I'm fine thanks for asking.

For once he worries about himself, instead concentrating on others :thumb: ;)

Thinking of getting a Prelude myself when i have to sell my Scoob.
I've drove the old one which mightly impressed me and i've heard the new one is even better.

btw make sure you get the manual which has more power (197) and not the tip tronic:thumb:

one thing you will get with Honda is a bullet proof engine

Matteeboy 11 January 2007 10:37 PM

That's cheating - You didn't even mention a Prelude!

Slight Chav magnet this way (I remember one REALLY trying to race me when I had the R32 and failing dismally but driving very dangerously) but heard they are good.

what you failed or he did - i've heard they are quite quick (preludes)

Matteeboy 11 January 2007 10:59 PM

He failed - Even with the weight of the Golf, 260bhp vs under 200 and me with 4WD toasted the cheeky Chav.

Was probably a lower powered one anyway tbh!

The Chief 11 January 2007 11:51 PM

Its just i'm not having a pop at the R32 its just that one had a go at me the other week and i destroyed it, he gave up in the end.

Not very long I wouldn't have thought :D and anyone who thinks that Vapid was the same user as 'Audilover' is obtuse.

Crikey Paul that just about covers every thread on snet:lol1:

Ok a complete spanner in the works.

Nissan Almera GTi???? - ugly as sin but a very capable hatch for peanuts.
Fiat Coupe 20v turbo- if your brave
Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.6 - Not that quick.
Ford Puma - a bit cramped
Vauxhall Astra SRI 2.0 - not as bad as you think.

all inside your budget

No the difference is that whilst Torpid posted good stuff and made people look stupid, you post stupid stuff and make people look good :)

OI! Don't you go and get my thread locked!
Leave the trolls alone! :thumb:

Gutmann pug 12 January 2007 08:39 AM

I think in all probablility the best thing to do is to look at different cars in the range and buy the best one you find which suits YOU.

With your budget you may be lucky and find a 30K one owner car which isn't exactly the model you want but is too good to pass by.

I think the main problem is that I keep changing my mind!
I have owned Imprezas for 3 years now and have a MY99 UK turbo at the moment. But, as with anything in life, the grass always seem greener on the other side!
Was going to sell the scoob and put half the funds towards another car, and half towards our wedding. But the mrs says she doesn't want a fancy wedding! :thumb:

Looks like i'm either going to keep the scoob, or go for a teg! :D

I've had 2 x 106 GTi's, a 306 GTi-6 and a 306 Rallye, the 206 is not in the same league, I originally wanted one after my first 106 as it seemed a natural progression, but after driving several, I went for the 306 instead.

Not a "bad" car as such, but compared to the other Peugeots it's a poor stable mate IMO

(not talking about the 180 here BTW)
