Food for thought there Jon, I'm really missing my car at the mo! Driving Landies in the desert just doesn't cut it. I'll spend some quality time with her when I get home though!!
Looking very nice by the way!! |
Think I'm just about there:D
After a few months graft I have just about go the car were I want it to be prior to the respray. Some individual touches include the meshed front bumper and home made sideskirts. I've also fitted the roof vent. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04111.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04110.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04109.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04108.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04107.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04106.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04105.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04104.jpg Sat in the garage waiting to go on is a RA light-weight and tinted rear screen with a small carbon lip spoiler to be bonded onto it, and I'm awaiting the delivery of the last few anodised bolts for the spoiler and exhaust heat shield. Just awaiting the final quote for the respray of Prodriverules (tomorrow all being well) and then schedule a time to layer up some special (but not chavvy) paint once his quote and my savings meet up:D I did have the square plate fitted over the passenger side vent, but I'm not so sure now and need some inspiration for the front number plate:wonder: |
I'm sure all your time and hard work will pay of in bucket loads once you've had the respray.
As for the number plate, I would stick with the smaller one you have got in your window as would look great on the recessed mount :thumb: |
Got bored today so I've started to do some of the under-bonnet stuff:D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04131.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04132.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04133.jpg |
Jon Kakumei spoiler looking nuts:luvlove:,really good work Jon:thumb:
Jura |
And here's the strut brace fitted:D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04134.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04135.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04136.jpg Also have the front number plate dilemma sorted thanks to those who suggested the stick-on option:thumb: |
I've had a sticky vinyl number plate on mine for a few years now Jon, will be removing it soon and fitting a number plate over the NS fog cover.
|
I have a square front plate as well as a 3/4 plate, but I've not got any fog covers, just lots of mesh:D
|
How did you have the plate mounted? Just screwed to the bumper?
I don't want to damage my fog cover, I'm going to the far end of a fart fitting my square plate. :Whatever_ Would be a hell of a lot easier to just screw through the cover though. :brickwall |
I screwed through the bumper, but wasn't happy so filled the holes and got the stick-on - I've just trimmed it down too:D
If you still have the standard bumper you could try something like this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-MX5-EUNO...#ht_770wt_1139 I've cut away too much bumper to do this:( |
I've made a template for where the covers screw into the brackets, bought some longer bolts and some spacers.
Just need to drill the square plate, and Bob's your Mothers brother. :D |
All being well the car will be going in for the paint this time next week:norty:
So to finish off today I've stripped out the door cards and roof liner, loaded up the rear screen and lip spoiler all ready to go. Also fitted some aerocatches, which will give the bodyshop something to do when it comes to tidying up the underside of the bonnet:D Pics to follow:thumb: |
Last bits before the respray...
Aero-catches fitted, need to tidy up the underside a touch but my 'dremel' flexi-attachment snapped:( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04796.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04794.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04793.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04792.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04791.jpg |
Another good job done there Jon. How long will the respray take?
|
Good work :)
|
It's planned for about 8-weeks, but that's because I'm busy in work so can leave it that long.
|
Wow will be worth the wait though.
|
Then for some arch-rolling...
Tools available :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04797.jpg Guess which one I selected:norty: Before... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04799.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04803.jpg After... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04804.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04802.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04800.jpg Drivers side finished nice and straight:D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04806.jpg Passenger's side buckled a touch so has had a skim of filler to straighten it out - another one for the bodyshop:wonder: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04805.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04807.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04808.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC04809.jpg |

I'm banned from doing anything dangerous after lopping the top of my finger off - probably should have gone to A&E for a stitch or 2 but couldn't be bothered, it's stopped bleeding and has sort of lined back up:eek: |

PS. Wiper arms - black with the rest of the trim:norty: remembered that one on my way home - I assume they'll be off as the scuttle panel needs to come off for the windscreen to come out:D |

Great to meet you too, traffic wasn't bad getting home until the M40 when someone decided to roll their car and someone else hit a deer - both cars were a mess:eek:
