Following on from Panorama and the other thread, I was wondering what debt most of you had? Here's mine
Loans 0 Credit cards 0 Store cards 0 Mortgage 433 etc. Not too interested in the mortgage amount, but the monthly repayment may be of interest. |
I'm on a current account mortgage so I don't have a monthly payment. My whole income comes off each week, my spending goes back on. Amount outstanding should equate to around £290pcm over 18 years, but on this mortgage I should clear the lot in 3 years. :D
Do all spending on CC to keep account balance as high as possible to reduce interest on mort, pay full amount each month so no CC interest. |
Overdraft: £1500
Credit Card: £550 Parents: £600 Girlfriend: £250 Total: £2900 Still, not too bad considering I graduated from Uni 5 months ago... |

Mortgage : 104k
Loans : 0 Credit Cards : 0 Store Cards : 0 Any other loans : 0 2 bikes/1 car/second home in France - I have sympathy for some of the individuals who have debts but certainly some are just guilty of greed and thinking they 'deserve it'. |
Same as PSL, its a great comfort and was worth grafting for in the past.
Tiggs, how can you live with that! What a worry. Les |
Mort - 68K/£240pm - interest only
CC - 2K/£50pm - gets changed to 0% every 6 months Loans 6K/120pm - 5 year loan for GFs car and a bit for my Scoob O/D - £100 Not bad really. Did have nearly 6K on CCs but pinched a bit of equity from the house (worth 110K this is Wales don't forget :)). |
my debt is a big fat zero , house paid for , no credit card bills and no loans !! gutted :D
|
no debts here either! :D
|
CCs - £0
Car - bought new, cash Other loans - £0 Any other debts - £0 Mortgage - into 6 figures, but probably less than 50% of house value Savings / investments - let's just say they'd pay the mortgage for several years. ;) Will live with that for age 30. |
0 on cards/etc/blah
220k on house but equity is 1/3+ 6k on wife's car but thats only 'cos its 0% interest & we'd prefer not to blow the capital on it, although we could. I'm unemployed but insurance pays the mortgage at the moment & can afford not to get a job for a year or so without eating capital. Wife works, child @ private school all paid for next 3 years. |
£1500 student loan at about 2% or something daft, been paying ages!
£4000 on 0% for life card, so why pay quickly! Car loan for about 60% of car. Not much else, income easily covers this with four figure some left so not worried. :D |
Mortgage: £120000
Student Loan: approx. £8500 |
How do you guys on the current account/mortgage type thing deal with savings?
I’m currently battling the logic of putting all my savings in to to pay off my Motorbike & Range Rover loan (c£5k)and then having NOTHING for a rainy day or to pay off the loan for a few months if I get made redundant etc It makes no sense to pay interest and than have savings in reserve so I find that a tough one! D PS – sorry, don’t feel comfortable disclosing my debts here! |
deisel - i would pay off the loan and then set up a direct debit to a savings account for the amount you spend on the loan each month. within a year or two you will have some savings and no loan, plus you will be getting interest instead of paying it.
