harj 22 June 2000 12:02 AM

Whats the SIDC?

sickboy 22 June 2000 12:05 AM

Harj,
Subaru Impreza Drivers Club.

Anyone got a phone number??

JamesH 22 June 2000 12:20 AM

chuckster 22 June 2000 12:26 AM

Whats a 'Harj'?

sickboy 22 June 2000 11:55 AM

Membership runs from 1st October to 30th September, but has anyone joined outside these dates, and if so what happened?

I'd like to join now but not if I have to renew in October.

I can't find a number to call for enquiries.

Any help appreciated...

Ian Sutton 22 June 2000 01:49 PM

I think you guys have eaten far to many Wotsits.

chuckster 22 June 2000 02:15 PM

Monster Munch in my case - pickled onion flavour, I found that just 1 was too much.
Chuck
(Will stop posting nonsense now, sorry folks)

harj 22 June 2000 02:20 PM

The Name HARJ stands for Chuck Killer or 22B Killer http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif I don't think the SIDC would want a member like me, Im too nice for them!

sickboy 22 June 2000 02:23 PM

Cheers chaps,
but does anyone have a number!

I've got a service coming up and need to join to get my discount.......

Ian Sutton 22 June 2000 02:23 PM

Harj so its not because you can't beer to give £20 to join then ??? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

chuckster 22 June 2000 02:39 PM

Email anders@22b.com
Anders is on the SIDC committee and is the acting Media/PR guy I believe, should be able to get you a response quickly.
Chuck
(If this was a nonsense post I'd say use Harj's memebership number - 666, but it isn't so I won't)

JohnS 22 June 2000 03:05 PM

The quickest way to join, is to pop over to the SIDC website at

sickboy 22 June 2000 04:08 PM

Thanks John,
exactly what I was going to do, but I don't want to pay £20 for June to September (3 months) then pay again!

Will it last for 12months from now?????

Markus 22 June 2000 04:13 PM

Any idea if SIDC could get 10 percent discount from some unoffical dealers for part's and servicing (scoobysport? GGR, PE, etc...)

Why? well I, and many others here, have imports, thus the 10 percent off is useless to us.

Markus 22 June 2000 04:18 PM

sickboy:
My understanding is that you pay the 20 quid and then pay another 20 quid in september. This issue has been rasied before I think.

I believe the reason is due to the fact that SIDC is non profit organisation, and thus it's running is handled by volunteers, and with around 1000+ members the admin of varying membership dates, etc is mind numbing, thus the reason why the membership is the way it is.

KF 22 June 2000 04:21 PM

It will be £15 if you join now.
KF

CharlieWhiskey 22 June 2000 04:31 PM

Will I get a refund then, I sent them £20 last week http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Chris

sickboy 22 June 2000 04:38 PM

I've mailed Anders and suggested I pay pro rata for this year and in full for 2000/2001 at the same time.

Would have thought that would offset any extra admin involved?

Mark Johnson 22 June 2000 06:03 PM

Come on guys it is only £20 for a whole year.
About 1/3 of a tank of petrol or 80 miles !

sickboy 23 June 2000 08:52 AM

Mark,
you've missed the whole point! It would be £20 for 3 months. DOH!

dewi 23 June 2000 09:05 AM

I'm the same. I want to join the SIDC, but I've been waiting for 1st October as I don't see the point in paying £20 for 3 months membership.

Ian Sutton 23 June 2000 09:15 AM

I think that unless someone gets paid for the running of the SIDCs accounts/memberships etc (I believe it volunteers unpaid at mo) that this won't be changed. It is far too time consuming, although I totally agree with everyones dismay at paying 20 notes for a months membership. It may not be the money thats the problem but the principle.

....Ian

sickboy 23 June 2000 09:48 AM

I would have thought it would be less hassle to do 15 months membership in 1 go, rather than process an application for 3 months, then an application for 12 months.

(Ignoring the fact that the SIDC are taking in more funding for the second method).

It's principle and money. I didn't become a multi-millionaire by giving away cash for nothing in return. (Wait a minute I didn't become a multi-millionaire http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif )

I think it's a matter of common sense and fairness on the part of the SIDC.

How about if all future mid-season joiners paid pro rata subs PLUS next years at the same time? Surely that is workable?

Anyone form the SIDC Committee reading this?

Triggaaar 23 June 2000 10:25 AM

Add me to the list of people wanting to join for a year and a bit.

sickboy,
Did you get a response from the email you sent Anders?

sickboy 23 June 2000 10:34 AM

Trig,
not yet.

APJ 23 June 2000 12:22 PM

I suggested pro-rata payment when I tried to join a few weeks ago - but it was a no - pay £20 now, and £20 again in Sept. Allegedly though, wait until August 1st - and pay £20 for 13 months!

Before I get flamed for trying to swindle SIDC - I want to join, and I want to pay my subs - but I'm not stupid enough to pay £20 for just over a months membership, sorry. I'll apply in August and gratefully hand over £20.

Andrew

KF 23 June 2000 03:51 PM

It would appear that I am in error. Apologies, I must have been drunk when I wrote the SIDC cheque.
KF.

ptholt 23 June 2000 04:32 PM

damn i'd just posted my cheque as i thought the sensible thing would be to do it pro rate - whoops.

£20 for a couple of months membership....

silly me, wish id seen this before.

sickboy 23 June 2000 04:43 PM

still no reply from Anders......
