0-60 times
does anybody know the accurate 0-60 times of standard scoobys, im particually interested in the 99 turbo 2000 as im getting one later this year, ive herd some wild claims of times they seem to variey between 5.2ish and 6.5ish. Also if you add a few simple mods i.e exhaust ect.. does it make much if any diffrence.
Thanks |
3.91 seconds, more if you have a trunk monkey but they are worth the minor acceleration penalty.

Think the quoted Subaru time is 6.1secs to 60mph bue Evo magazine have got it tested to 5.4secs.
|
The classics certainly are quicker to 60 than the official more conservative figures (unless the offical figures are 0-100km/h = 0-62mph ). I can vouch they will do 60 in sub 6 seconds.
All depends how you launch it off the line :) |
I was quite surprised at the stopping distances. In the Highway Code, 70-0 mph is quoted as 96m. The Impreza does it in 47.6m. :eek2:
Hmm, maybe its time the old blue book was updated! :Whatever_ |
Yep, the highway code is vastly over-exagerrated, I think it's based on the stopping Distance of an Austin Seven driven by a man with matchsticks for legs ;)
But (un)suprisingly, it can be quite accurate if you have fast road pads that are cold or cheap and nasty tyres on a wet road ;) |
So hopefully my brand new standard replacment discs, pads (4 pots on an sti 4) and toyo t1-s tyres, should be good enough!
|
|
sure gotta hurt that clutch to get under 6 secs in a standard scoob:)
|
Do you want to know what the fasted timed run? Or are you really wanting to know what car is REALLY the fastest? 0-60 is one of the most misleading scale out there at times.
|
Car is capable of : Mid-to low 5s.
In the high 4s with a decat+boost controller. OE clutch can handle plenty of abuse. .....but from what I've seen at drag and 0-60/100mph events, not many people can achieve their book times. |

Think it was a Ford Anglia with drums IIRC !
Stan |
I got a recorded time of 5.76sec at Melbourne, crap srface too! And i recorded 5.4sec with a G-Tech controller (2 up :norty:)
P1 Clutch and lightened fly, so really launched it! |
Can't recall exact figures but Stef pulled sub 5s with with timing gear with only a decat and K&N.

Impreza 2.0 Turbo UK (215Bhp) 0-60 5.60sec 0-100 15.87sec
1/4 mile 14.38sec hopes this helps. |

A search just returned 13.56sec 0-100mph.

Stan ...My Landy can get 98% braking force on the Talpey metre :D Scoob can only muster 93% Although when they get hot, fade can be an interesting issue, when the 3rd 60-zero stop requires both feet on the pedal  |
thanks guys,
thats given me a rough idea, so u you recomn if u add just like an exhuat and induction kit you could drop it by maby .2 or.3 of a second or is that just imposible to calcuate because that would really depend on your start |
Backbox does nowt but make noise. Decat the centre and/or downpipe catalysts for more gains (although be aware of possible boost spiking on post 98 cars with decat downpipes).
Inductions kits are highly debated in terms of reliability to MAF sensors too. |
Fastest car ive ever had to 60 was my Evo IVRS it was running autronics management, 310bhp at the wheels and well under a ton in weight, with a close ratio box, it was sub 4 seconds, it was like a motorbike.
My P1 was also pretty quick, my current car the 01 wrx is painfully slow, but hope that will change with the remap today :) |
Full decat, STi panel filter and manual boost controller would be my choice of 1st stage mods.
|
.
<-- Thats with 266bhp at the wheels MY99 UK.

Hows that a standard engine then ;)
|
I've gat a MY05 STI PPP and did a few launches form 0-60 at the weekend:-
4.75 (not a very good start) 4.6 (ok start but still felt wrong) 4.45 (good start, slight wheel spin off the mark. Nt much clutch abuse (3,500 rpm launch). Felt good and not much more in the tank for improvement). Running Tesco 99 fuel (full tank) STI Panel air filter |

Something tells me your defination is slightly cleverer than my definition of a standard uk engine!
