Twin Scroll fitting
What would i need to fit a twin scroll turbo off a JDM spec car (VF37 i believe) onto a UK spec WRX if it's possible at all :wonder: , i think the headers and up-pipe are different but would i need to change anything else (oil or water pipes - downpipe etc)
Cheers :thumb: |
sump as well i think....they are a different shape because of the headers...
maybe downpipe fittings too but im not so sure on that one! |
definately a new downpipe as well, and then you will need the JDM centre or a classic shape centre to fit onto the downpipe
|
Anyone else
|
that should be it Ian....headers, sump, uppipe downpipe and a VF37 :)
|
Well you never know there maybe someone out there that can make a uppipe to fit the twin scroll onto standard headers :D
|
Hi Ian : I think it is one of these jobs that you start with all the bits you know you need and take it from there. Adapting a down pipe is not a problem and just a question of whether adapting your existing or use the purpose designed item whichever is most cost effective. I think you have to go with the twin scroll up-pipe and headers.
Oil and water pipes can be made up locally as/if required. If you go ahead it is vitally important that you choose somebody with the range of skills and knowledge to carry out such a project. Try to tie down the timescale and budget as much as reasonbly possible, bearing in mind that you are probably in uncharted waters. |

Thanks everyone :thumb: , it was just a idea to see if i can get more torque out of my car :norty:
|
twinscroll fitting is quite a simple job i have done this to a 1994 wrx
you need the turbo, front pipe, headers, upipe and the oil sump after a remap the car did 367bhp and 398lbflt of torque it was a very fast road car if you need any more info please contact me by private message ;) classic exhaust center and rear section will be needed i would use a rcms front pipe |

you may be able to do it as you can get the sumps modded to miss the headers i have seen this done but not on the oe spec twinscroll headers i think you may only have to take the heat shields off and wrap the headers in dei wrap to give the extra room and then have the sump slighted modded to fit round the headers let me look into this for you as a friend is coming down with a car i built for him and i will look at it closer pm me so i can post you a message back
cheers paul |
suppose i dont come down :D

IMHO i think you would be more suited to something like an 18g turbo !! it may even be quicker than mine and mine is a hybrid twin scroll !!!
definately a 20g running a bigger tmic will be fun !!! buy a good tmic though not an sti jobbie !!! |

the STI tmic is too small for newage cars and bigger power, i have a hyperflow tmic on mine !!! if you were considering a twin scroll turbo !!! a bigger tmic and a 20g will seem cheap in comparison and as soon as 3500rpm hits it will pull :D:D

Because even im gonna find it hard to pass 400 without an expensive Twin Scroll hybrid. I think the twin scroll has limits and power will come cheaper and easier with a traditional hybrid. Your welcome to have a try of mine on one of the local private roads ;) |

The FMIC and methanol have meant we could eke out some extra ignition advance and max the injectors at 95%. But a higher flowing turbo is needed to make the most of it now as that is the limiting factor. Prices are not cheap, and for half the price I could get a conventional bearinged Garett and rotated pipe. For the same price, I could get a roller- bearinged Garrett. |

But I think we pay a price for the quick spool characteristics when you look for bigger numbers. I hope we don't put anyone off? £ for £, they are still miles better than the standard STI8 set-up (VF35?). The injectors would have gone over 95% too. But the cooler charge of the WI mix meant we could lean them off considerably over the STI TMIC. |
