MONDEO ST 3.0 V6
thinking of getting rid of the subaru and getting the above and wondered what ppl thought of the st on a 04 plate not the old one, only reason i am thinking of doing this is the insurance is going up to neare £1200 next year and a st is only £500 for me.
|
Why is the insurance going up? My mate had one and it was ....ok.
|
Nice noise, needs revving or you'll be better in a diesel though with cheaper costs.

I had one, real rep. car :D.
Arround town, short trips, like the scoob, not good mpg. Then on a motorway, long trips home from London to Cornwall, and trips to see my bro in Pompy. It bearly reaches 500 rpm at 70mph, and at a steady pace, fuel lasts for ages. If i was looking to get rid of the scoob, i would go for something like this, and the insurance was really cheap, and im only 26 with 6 points...:thumb: |

Do a search. Saxo Boy did a great write up on his. I have the TDCI ST and it's a nice car but with a few common Ford faults. nearly 600 miles to a tank though helps

last tank which was a mix of driving I got 45mpg. Motorway I'd guess at 50+. They are good cars but seem to have some common faults. injectors being the main worry, EGR valve will fail and dual mass flywheel. Although like anything reading up online tends to only highlight negative views

on the pre facelift models the pulley and tensioner etc were a known fault. There's a technical bulletin about them apparently. stdrivers forum has a fair it of info if you want do do more research.
|
Search user name Saxo Boy and ST220....if you have any further questions on them then let me know :)
|
blolody good read up you have done there fella and i am now after a st thanks
|
I've already converted someone else on the forum as well :) They are great value for money cars to be fair. My average MPG over the life of the car is now up to 27mpg as I do more mixed driving now as opposed to all around town when I first got it. And believe me, I boot it.
|
Saxo it was me that you converted :) Although it was the car really ;)
My average mpg is 22.4 but I do a short journey to and from work and don't do many long journeys at all. I'd definitely recommend one, they are great. Can't really see what more you could expect from a car for the money they cost. http://www.sidtech.co.uk/iu/Fantom8444162871.jpg |

They seem VERY thirsty for their relatively modest performance.
They look good, handle well and sound decent but most seem to get low 20s for a mere 222bhp and pretty mid level acceleration figures. |
Neil go back to what you know fella!! ;)
