Lovely car there, i just need to sell my westy before i can go looking for a type r again.

Whats the difference between a v3 and v4 engine?

version 3 cams should be more agressive hence ecu will differ slightly and cam belt tensioner was of a slightly different design.

does that make the version 3 better than the 4 cos im looking for a sti engine and was looking for a version 4 but a lot of people are telling me to go for the version 3

sorry just seen this.

strictly speaking more aggressive cams can yield more torque and hence more power at that point, but more torque through the rev-range means better drivability.

It also means greater fuel consumption and usually a nastier idle, but I don't think the version 3 is that wild, just a little more wild than the version 4.

Of the 2 cam profiles, I would go with the version 3 engine over the 4 yes!
