Default Impreza - Hillclimb/Rally/Trackday

With much regret due to family illness I am considering selling my pride & joy provided I get a reasonable offer which is a highly modified WRX built purposefully for hillclimbing but alternatively would make an ideal rally or trackday car. This car has been gradually modified over four years with extensive modifications this year. The car comes with an MSA Competition Car Log Book.

This car is a 1994 import which was imported 4 years ago with 66,000 miles (or kms equivalent) and has only done a further 1,249 miles in the last four years.

It has been professionally maintained regardless of cost by Mike Dean who races a Gould in the British Hillclimb Championship and in addition it has had work done on it by Richard Bulmer of Tracktive Solutions including remapping with a Hydra ECU. For those of you that don't know, Richard was previously a highly regarded WRC tuner and used to map for TSL in Nottingham.

The car comes with two sets of suspension, two sets of wheels, three sets of tyres, etc, etc.

Frighteningly I have just worked out that the car has had £15,000 of modifications on it during the time I have had it and c£7,500 this year alone. The respray from the original silver to blue & yellow cost £2,000 and is in pearlescent blue & pearlescent yellow.

The specification is as follows

1994 Subaru Impreza WRX in Blue & Yellow with sponsors signwriting - this can easily be removed with a hot air gun.
Stripped out with no rear seats, carpet, air conditioning, etc.
6 point Safety Devices Roll Cage - this is bolted to welded in supports and can be removed if required (new 2004).
Safety Devices MSA approved Roll cage padding.
GAB Gymkhana adjustable suspension - 4 way front & 8 way rear adjustable.
Heavy Duty springs.
Spare set of WRX struts & springs.
Whiteline anti lift kit.
Whitleline 22mm front anti roll bar.
Whitleline 22mm adjustable rear anti roll bar.
Powerflex uprated drop links front & rear.
Powerflex bushes.
TSL Front strut brace.
Cobra competition seats x 2 with subframes & side mounts (new 2004).
Sparco four point harnesses x 2 (new 2004).
Sparco harness pads (new 2005).
Sparco alloy pedal set.
Nardi small dish leather steering wheel.
TSL Group N stainless steel 3" de-cat exhaust (new 2005).
Stainless steel decat downpipe - heat wrapped (new 2005).
Unequal length stainless steel manifold headers (new March 2006).
Kill Switch/pull switch & cabling.
Samco pipes (new 2006).
HKS racing plugs (new 2006).
AFFF fire extinguisher (new 2005).
Greddy Turbo boost gauge.
Greddy oil temperature gauge.
Greddy turbo timer.
Short shift gear change.
MRT large core TMIC (new 2005).
VF34 Turbo Charger (new March 2006).
Godspeed Brembo 308mm 4 pot brake kit comprising vented and grooved discs, calipers and Ferodo DS2500 pads (new May 2006).
Goodridge braided hoses (new 2005).
Prodrive replica high level spoiler (new March 2006).
High level intercooler scoop (new March 2006).
Induction Kit - wing mounted (new March 2006).
FSE adjustable fuel regulator (new 2005).
Subaru 550 injectors (new March 2006).
Walbro 255 motorsport fuel pump (new 2005).
Hydra ECU - remappable as required with launch control & anti lag (new March 2006).
Spare OEM WRX ECU.
AP Organic 2 piece clutch and release bearing (new March 2006).
Tracktive Lightened flywheel (new March 2006).
Prodrive rear plated LSD (new 2005) - this is a very expensive mod and is really only of use on hillclimbs where it improves handling considerably. Because of the nature of a plated diff and the plates heating up, it is probably too stiff for everyday use - you get the usual hopping/skipping/clicking of the wheels on 90 degress turns.
Spare OEM WRX rear diff.
Atmo Blow Off Valve (new 2006).
Stainless steel header tank (new 2005).
Stainless steel radiator slam panel (new 2005).
7.5" x 16" gold split rims look-a-likes.
7.0 x 16" gold Subaru Terzo wheels.
Set of soft compound Avon slicks (new 2006 used once).
Set of trackday road legal slicks + spare Dunlop DO1J 205/16 (new June 2006 and unused).
Set of Toyo TR1's 205/16 (new 2005).
Spare rear drive shafts x 2 (one new and one vgc).
OEM cat down pipe (new 2005).
Spare drop links.
Blue Subaru waterproof seat covers.

I am sure that there are many other items and will have to come up with an exhaustive list for anyone interested.

The car is in excellent condition and is fully undersealed with no rust. It is fully serviced twice a year, had its last service in March with oil, plugs, etc, all changed together will a full lazer alignment on the wheels & tracking.

I have attached a photo from last year but since then the visual changes that have occured are high level scoop (black in photo now yellow), high lever Prodrive spoiler added (yellow), fog light covers (black in photo now yellow), etc. Wheels shown are the 7.5" x 16" needed for the Avon slicks.

This car has not been involved in any accidents and has been totally reliable and has not let me down once in four years of ownership. The only fault, if that is what you can call it, is a metallic vibration noise from the front near side of the car which has been present since I bought it and is probably a loose heat shield, drive shaft or the abs ring. I have never looked into it as it has not given any problems and only occurs when throttling off and is louder than it perhaps otherwise would be due to no carpet or sound deadening.

The car has been mapped for torque and is very quick presently running 1.3-1.4 bar but can be remapped with launch control and anti-lag (300bhp+).

The car is in Guernsey, Channel Islands and I will arrange for it to be put on the ferry and delivered to Portsmouth at no cost or can probably deliver anywhere in the country by trailer at a cost. The car will come with a vehicle registration document, export document, VAT paid document (I will pay the VAT which is payable as it will be imported into the UK) and purchase document. The car does not have an MOT (as we do not have these in the Channel Islands). It should however sail through this other than emissions where you will need to replace the de-cat downpipe with the OEM downpipe with the restrictive cat in it (as supplied and included within the spare parts) and it will need a few other inexpensive items, e.g. fuel neck restrictor, rear fog light, etc. The KMH to MPH and derestriction was done when I imported it from Japan.

This car has been cherished and lives in a garage with dust cover and is owned dare I say by a middle aged man (me) of 45 years young and not a boy racer !

I can e-mail further photos or answer any queries either as a post or e-mail if you e-mail me at stuart.butler@heritage.co.gg

Have had trouble posting photos but can now be viewed at:

Wow!
Stuart: I cannot access the pics above, might be because of me or maybe others cannot access them either.

Hate for someone not to see this bargain.

Sad for you though.

Graham.

I do not know why you cannot open the attachment which is a photo as if I click on it, it opens.

I have however not added a photo before but I cannot see how else I can do it.

I go to manage attachments, then browse, choose the JPG/JPEG, upload and then that's it.

However, anyone interested can sent me a post or an e-mail and I will send some photos.

It's because you are an access all areas member. Only other members like you can view the pics.

Would be much better to post a URL, or e-mail them to someone who can host them. I can do this for a while if you like.

I have read it and re-read it, I can't see a price. How do we know it is a bargain?

Possibly because Graham knows that in total it has set me back over £20,000 but that I am open to sensible offers.

I do not seem to be able to attach photos open to all and sent some to Davie that responded to host for me but these haven't been done yet, so I will sedn to Graham to see if he can assist.

Stuart

Will try later...

I now have 48 photos showing various parts of the car; interior, exterior, engine bay, brakes, etc, etc.

Several have e-mailed me but anyone else wants the photos just drop me a PM or e-mail (stuart.butler@heritage.co.gg) then I will let you have these.

Thanks.

Already had two serious enquiries one of which I am presently liasing with. I think he realises the bargain he is getting when he worked out what it would cost to buy and convert a Scooby to a similar spec.

Too true.
Buying one 'done' is the way to go, especially to this spec.
Good luck, hope he won't be at a hillclimb close to me!

Unfortunately it seems the genuine offer was a scam and car sellers be aware.

Once we got down to the nitty gritty I get the following:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>

I am owed £16,500 by a client and I will get my client to send you a cheque
for this amount. When you receive it please cash it immediately.

Then after deducting the cost of the car, will you please send the balance
by cheque to my shipping agent. They will then arrange collection of the
car.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>

If you go with this you lose you car and the amount of the cheque you send on.

Due to a time waster the sale has fallen through so the car is for sale again.

Will put for sale on the usual sites elsewhere but open to offers again.
