Post WRX STI Type R V5

Due to a company car, motorbike and imminent house purchase, it is time for me to part ways with my Subaru

The car is pretty much a standard '99 v5 Type R and currently has 45k miles on the clock.

Modifications:
H&S (Scoobysport) back box and lagged down-pipe (original STI items are available also)
Knock-link
Tek-3 remap to run on Optimax (using P1 firmware)
Cat-1 alarm and Tracker

Usual STI Type R specification (adjustable centre diff, intercooler water spray etc) - see other threads in this forum for more details.

The short-engine and one of the cylinder heads was replaced by Subaru in 2003 (with 27,886 miles on the clock) due to damage caused by pre-detonation, the timing belt was also replaced at this time. The knock-link and remap were fitted shortly afterwards to prevent future engine failure. I have kept all receipts.

I have a rolling road print-out from before the remap that is showing 278bhp - I suspect it is running over 300bhp now (the remap also included a slight boost upgrade).

Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1's and were fitted around 3,000 miles ago. The front break discs and pads were replaced earlier this year. MOT is due in December the tax runs out in September.

I am looking for £8,900.

I'm near Ellesmere Port, not far from Chester.

I was going to take some more pictures on Sunday, but ended up going for a blast around North-Wales instead. It feels fantastic to drive, especially after driving a diesel all week!

I'll take some pictures later this week (if it stops raining).

Not sure what more information I can add.. I bought the car in 2002 when it had 18,000 miles on the clock. The previous owner had imported it new from Japan, at which time the kph->mph converter was installed. The limiter is either removed, or increased to 180mph during the conversion (which it will never reach, I think the engine hits the 8250rpm red-line at around 150mph). This car isn't about top-end speed anyway (as the 4.5 second 0-60 time demonstrates), there's plenty of fun to be had below the speed-limit, on the right sort of road

The Type R appeared briefly in this Top-Gear clip, when it was driven round the track alongside a tuned-up Escort Cosworth.

Some differences of the Type R compared to an STI of the same year:
  • 2 door (obviously)
  • Inverted-strut suspension
  • Electronically adjustable centre diff.
  • Mechanical LSD on rear diff
  • Intercooler waterspray (with automatic mode)
  • 4-pot front calipers, and 2-pot rear
  • Carbon-fibre strut-brace (not sure if the standard STI had this or not)
  • Solid rear bulkhead (increased strength)
  • Aluminium bonnet, possibly boot-lid too (it weighs bugger all)
  • Tinted rear windows (possibly STI also)
  • Inverted rear wing (to stop it taking off!)

That's all I can remember from memory. Also, note that even the basic STI is an improvement from the UK car in many ways.

The car has had an oil change every 3,000 miles and is run on fully synthetic oil. I've always refueled with Optimax (now V-Power) which is what the ECU has been mapped for.

Edit - Found 2 more pictures:

Hi Sorry you didn't put your name,

I am coming to Neston on Monday as our dog has to go to Leahurst and I wondered if you were about for a view as i have one in Widnes and one in Chester to also look at.
I would appreciate any engine and interior photos and if you have a mobile I can contact you direct or you can e mail to me if you wish.

Pinarello was a no-show on Monday, but since I'd washed the car and it had finally stopped raining I took some more pictures:
