It's a very nice car to drive and the handling is spot on.

If only they could combine the luxury and handling of the Mazda with the outright grunt of an Impreza.

Tell me about it.

My brother has had it advertised on AutoTrader and Pistonheads and not had a single serious call.

Same for me and my sti.

Agree, not wanting to put a downer on things, but i've been looking at these on and off for a while. There's a 54 plate with 27000 miles and fully loaded at a Mazda dealer near me for that money. Depends how keen he is to sell but if so, he'll need to lower the price.

There's also a guy round the corner from my brother who has a 192bhp version up at £8,750.

New price is £6,950 - he'd forgotten to tell me.

Sorry mate, had to say something because people wouldn't expect the RX8 to be that much to tax, it's just crazy!

I think under the original plans, a brand new RX8 bought after April 2010 would pay a staggering £950 first year road tax. To tax any RX8 after April 2010 would be £455.

Good news about the delay though!

Fair enough. Aren't Scoobs and RX-8's in the same tax band? I think the saving any potential owner is making by buying a car at this time will more than make up for a couple of year's tax.

According to Parkers my scoob (2001 Bugeye WRX) will be group G, RX8 will be group K!

They've not got the grunt of a forced induction flat four but they make up for it with sorted handling.

As I discovered again on Saturday along the local bypass.

My brother needed a lift to the pub and threw me the keys.

We went the long way round.
