Currently on MY99 car - however if you have a MY99 it WILL require an external dumpvalve all other components supplied.

Will drop straight on to a MY98 - possibly MY97 as well - however it is up to you to check.

The net...

...MRT Top Mount Intercooler - superb on road performance - helped my car to 346bhp on the rollers - which are notoriously difficult for TMIC fitted cars

...Underbonnet scoop plate - modified to accommodate extra deep intercooler

...Plate fitted with STi Water Spray nozzles

...Samco pipes

...pretapped for water injection - pre and post intercooler

Minimum price - £450

Finally going the front mount route trout?

Have to say after seeing your car at power engineering, it was VERY impressive for a top mount. This is an ideal upgrade for someone who doesnt want to hack apart there bodywork fitting a fmic.

It is excellent! What else can I say - on another car the inlet temps were much better controlled at less than 40deg - which is more than can be said for the STi V version.

Certainly when I put it on it required more fuel to be mapped in - always a good sign

Pete,

I have finally resorted to the hacking route - however it wouldn't surprise me if I didn't get any more power! LOL

Trout,

I cant believe you are doing this without having offered it to me first!

you knew how much I wanted this and now I feel betrayed .

Not buying it now but then I bought my new front bumper so that it would be okay to hack around to fit an fmic.

Out of interest, what are you going for?

more importantly, when will you answer me on 22b.com?

Adam,

well I didn't because I thought you had bought an FMIC - however if you want it........

Trout

Pete,

whatever can you mean?

There are some situations - i.e. trying very hard to pass a MY01 911 Turbo on track when we are both driving at the limit and the underbonnet temps - errrr - rise a lot!

Question

Hi Trout, are you saying that all the above is for £450, including water spray plate etc.?

What are the efficiency deltas between the STi5/P1 and this one? I am trying to determine whether it is worth the walk or not???

Jacko.

The chap i was speaking to (the guy building an engine for me) was saying he had inlet temps taken from some front mount and had found them only marginally better on some due to the poor routes taken by the pipework etc

on trouts behalf as I am familiar with this intercooler!

changes to scoop are none on the outside.

On the inside the ducting from the scoop must be removed as the new intercooler is taller and so comes closer to the bonnet.
I believe trout will be supplying a home made version of a new duct with this which ensures air flow to the core. This will no doubt house water spray in necessary.

The core is a very efficient bar and plate design, and having spoking with those who have monitored the temps of these things, it performance is simply amazing!

And yes there is no question that it represents a substantial cooling performance hike over the standard top mounts, even the sti 5/6 (=P1) intercoolers with the denser fin population.

hope trout doesnt mind my intrusion here, but I would never have considered this if it wasnt a fantastically performing option.
