You're right Tony. Cat C & D are repairable, but not econmomical.
(That's most likely main dealer repairs etc...) cat. C is worse damage than cat D.
So a specialist garage can sometimes repair them cheaply enough to make it worthwhile.
If the repairs have been done well I think it could be a bargain, however, make sure that it can be insured!

Any Pictures? Further details re accident?
Seriously interested if the car has the new bucket style interior and new job with big rise means cash is available for the right car. Other option is to wait for 6 months and spend £15k on a W/X reg
I currently run a cat C damaged repaired Audi Coupe and have no problems at all with insurance or other bits.

Damn right there, but there seems to be a massive scare-monger factor about repaired cars... I ran a Corolla GT coupe, one of the rear wheel drive ones, that had been a banana cos of a tree. Proper repairs, proper receipts and not a single problem in 18 months and 60,000 miles. As long as its done right ( and who would get their own car bodged ffs?!?!?!) why should it be any worse than new?
Go for it someone, cos this is will be the best car you've ever had if youve never had a scoob (Ive got a 96 4dr as well with 51K and I'd want more than that by a stretch!!) for the same money as a Ford Mundane-o or any other indistinguishable 4 door family saloon.
Good luck with the sale sir!

Have a cat D scoob. Nothing wrong with it, apart from the boot lid doesn't quite line up properly (2mm out, and I can fix that when I can be bothered...)
When I did the HPI check, they told me to make sure that the insurance co. would be sensible in the case of an accident - that's all I was trying to say...
Got mine at a good price too, so go for it if it looks good in the flesh!
