OK, before I use a BFO Drill to remove the Catalytic converter from the rear section of a MY01 exhaust - does anyone want to either swap it for a direct straight thru replacement ?

or buy it from me for the cost of a straight thru section?

I think you'll be lucky to find someone wanting to swap a de-catted centre section for an original centre section. The decat centre sections are gettin on for £200 from the likes of Scoobysport or TSL.Most people when they change their centre sections (Me for one!!!) keep the original pipework anyway incase they ever wanna return their car to standard when they come to sell it.Just some advise for you, personally,I think you'll be lucky to find a centre decat section second hand on here. They do pop up from time to time but you gotta be lucky!

Good luck anyway!

Nick,

Thanks for the advice - it's not the centre section - just the rear section, as for keeping it...I've got two - the other one is still on the car! that's why I'm happy to drill it out if no-one needs one.

I would still weld a pipe in if I were you...

David,

Thanks I may yet get some welding done on it - just thought I'd try my luck first.

The beauty of smashing the internals out of it is that it would be same shape when it's finished, not take too long to acheieve, and would swap straight in - something even I might be able to manage! - if someone welded a pipe section into it then presumably there's a strong possiblity it might not fit quite so well, unless it was you of course ? Certainly if my soldering is anything to judge by that would be the case

Thanks for the interest...

Good luck in getting the catalyst out. I had a go on the one in an uppipe and boy was it tough! It took over an hour and I still hadn't cleaned it up (more important on the uppipe given its relation to the turbo!).
