What are you calling serious??

I am interested and know that I can get similar from dvla for around £250, but would rather get 1 from a scooby owner......

p1_dave@hotmail.com if you want to chat off line.

There are no more S600 BY* plate left with the DVLA. I have been offered alot more than $250.00 so I guess we will have to leave it.

At the end of the day there are no more avalible from the DVLA so it is a sellers market! People with these plates should not be persecuted just cos they are looking for more than they bought it for. Lets face it when we buy these types of things, they are bought as a investment. Things can be worth more to some than others. (all IMHO).Although it does get to me when pople try to make a quid or 2 on their first post
Good luck with the sale.
Paul

(by the way, I dont have a scooby plate in any shape or form so this isn't setting anything up for a future sale, just my opinion)

And if he's been offered "a lot more" then wtf is he doing trying to sell it on here? Why isnt he holidaying in the Bahamas on the proceeds?

Thinking us Scooby drivers all have money to burn and no sense? I dont believe hes offering it to us as a selfless act.

It's worth what it's worth I guess.

For the record, DVLA have NOT had any plates like this one for sale for months, despite what may be advertised on certain sites.

Good luck with the sale, but be realistic....it ain't worth thousands !!!

Not sure why everyone has jumped a little here! All I asked for was what he consindered serious. I was able to go to about 4 grand for a plate like that, cause it really would look good, but would have been a complete idiot if I had just offered that without knowing what offers were already on the table.

I do agree that some things are investments and are obviously priced that why, but with some people using random number generators to help them produce a price for a plate on this site I thought I had to gauge the water before jumping in.

Its not a "jump" Dave, just a discussion about a few points of interest. And its not meant as a pop at the guy selling it.

is this BBS here for people to register solely with the purpose of selling things to us or is it for people with an interest in the cars etc ? was one point..

What its worth is relative to each individuals position. For me its worth nothing, Ive got a plate on my scoob with the wife's initials. To you thats worth **** all, to me it gets me regular ******** so its priceless.

S 60 OBY would be worth a mint mind...unless you own a fiesta

I agree about the number generators. You get the impression that people want huge amounts for something that we KNOW the DVLA sold to someone else for £250. Its blatant profiteering, in the same way that buying www.some comoany name.com was a business a few years back - buy it for a tenner and ransom it. ITs the same sort of thing.

just thought i'd mention that the people who bought/buy web addresses in order to make money by sellign them alter will not succeed, as they can eb done for passing off and trademark infringement,

they used to get away with this in the beginning and there were reports that such addresses sold for hundreds of thousands. At first they did, but the the copyrigth lawyers got wise!

btw. I personally think £4000 is way too much for a plate like this and cannot see such a plate retaining its value, expecially given the price of an impreza. If it was L4MBO or F355 GTB I could understand, but it isnt.

And why do people think that the adverts for such plates were bogus? I dont look on other crappy sites, I go straight to a dvla website and search there. if the plate you like is there for £250 you can buy it over the phone there and then.

I would be more inclined to go to their search engine and keep putting in ideas until you come up with the one you want for £250.

To answer a few questions. Yes it is my first post on ScoobyNet but I was told that this is the bets place to sell it by one of your moderators. The reason I am selling it is because I am moving to America. I unfortunately have to sell me STi Type UK as well which i breaking my heart. I have had the plate for over 3 years and bought it because I knew one day I would own a Scooby. When I said serious offer I wasn't talking silly offers just sensible ones. I should also point out that I am loosing over £4500 on the STi so me making a bit of money off the plate should be a bad thing should it.

fair play.

why not choose a price for the plate, and add it to the price of the car when you sell it.

It might be easier to lose the value of the plate in the sale of the car.

Thats the way of the dealer it seems...and they wont give you **** all for the plate of course.

Moderators..pfft..what do THEY know? *looks over shoulder and flinches expecting a slap* :P

Well if you and the man with 4k cant come to some arrangement then I dont know WHAT you will do to sell it. The man wants it, has the pennies and wants to talk about it. Go for it! Gotta be a sure sale.
