Hi Floyd,
There is almost no way that your friend is going to get a TDI130
for that money.
The car was only introduced in 2001, and the lowest price I've
seen for one is around the 11500-12000 mark. That was for a car
with 70k miles on the clock.
He should be able to get a TDI110 for the money he wants to spend.
Hope this helps,
Andy.

I popped down to Eastbourne car auctions yesterday, and a copy of 1.9tdi's went for around 8k if my menory serves me correctly. I think the mileage was around 30-40k
Cheers,
Mark.
Sorry, that wasn't aimed at your price but to Bugpuss

www.trade-sales.co.uk are doing these new for £14699 and have quite a few in stock. Almost bought one for the other half until we found out the new shape is due next year.

To answer both Mark and Jase.....
All the Golf Diesels are 1.9TDi's. The newest cars (from 2001 on) use the PD direct injection system, and hence generate more power with more efficiency. Any TDi at around 8k is not going to be a PD model. Like I said previously, you will definitely get the 90, 100 and 115bhp models going for reasonable money at auction, but I've yet to see a 130bhp car go for less than 12 grand.
On the subject of Trade Sales, their TDI130s at 14,699 are base
spec. cars. If you look at the cost of the options on my car, you will see that I'm not too wide of the mark with my pricing.
e.g.
Cruise Control - 175 quid
Sports Pack (Suspension and Alloys) - 500 quid
Xenon headlights - 750 quid
Auto dimming mirror/rain sensitive wipers - 275 quid
Climate Control - 300 quid
Heated Seats, Heated mirrors etc. - 300 quid
Those are the main options my car has over what Trade Sales
are offering, so I don't think my asking price is too outrageous, and I'm always prepared to haggle........

Please guys, if you have nothing constructive to say about this car, then don't post here!
If you wish to discuss car prices in general please take it to a different forum. If you wish to discuss the price of this car, please dicuss with the seller!

Would be very interested if the price was right.
14k would be our best offer given the import prices new and the prices of your options and the fact the car has done 10k.
Let me know if you are interested..
Regards
Jase
