A mate recently sold his 'X' Reg MY00 EU for £14250 (Privately via Auto Trader). The car had 10000 miles on it and was totally standard (no aircon). Hope this gives you an indication.

Cheers,

Ian.

Is it de-valued as it is an EU import?? Cant see how that would make a difference!!

A little less, as it has no warranty left, and no CAT1 alarm fitted.

My guess is $12-13k would be about right. When new import MY02/03's can be had for <£17k, £14k for a 2 year old sperceeded model seems expensive. Also remeber that MY00 imports cost only £15-16k in the first place.

According to most car magazine publications and various leading journalists, EU imports should not be any less valuable than UK supplied cars regardles of how much cheaper they were when first bought. Of course if it has no warranty this may reduce what someone is prepared to pay as would the lack of a CAT 1 alarm as this would cost £350 for the purchaser to rectify.

What possibly is lowering the price of second hand scoobies is that EU imports ( WRX's ) as Orwella quite righlty says can be picked up for as little as 16k new and on the road. However this is effecting all 2nd hand Subarus even UK supplied because basically its common sense to realise someone would no doubt prefer to pay an extra 3 grand and get a brand spanker than pay for a 2 year old used one.

So the moral of my outburst is Glass's and Parkers etc.. suggest that you SHOULD be able to trade in for around 13k, even if its an import. Of course in reality a trader will probably offer you 10k cos its an import and then sell it for 15, best selling it private or hope the trader dont ask is it an import.

s'later

Image Doctor,

It was about three months ago when he sold it. Must admit I was suprised how much he got for it - he had plenty of enquiries via Auto Trader and sold it for the asking price. Reassuring 'cos I've got a similar car which I paid £15500 for brand new not bad depreciation. There seems to be more demand for the late MY00 cars than the early MY01 cars for some reason.

Cheers,

Ian.
