Nope the Speedstream is defintely a 5851 for SDSL not the 5861 for ADSL.............

I was told the basic difference was Symmetric DSL (SDSL) doesn't allow you to use the phone at the same time, but the speed of receiving and sending data is the same as DSL....... ???

It was going to be a trial .... but that was cancelled 7 months ago, along with all the people getting made redundant. I think your comment on 5861 is probably right, in the fact I think they got the wrong box.

Now we are all moving buildings I have to empty the site and either throw them away or sell them on.

Just found that there are in fact 6 Speedsteams and 3 Caymans

Doh

The SDSL router will have a different interface on it (RJ45 rather than RJ11) and will not work on a ADSL line....

Jeff is correct.. the Speedstream would have to be reconfigured as an ADSL router with different firmware and adapter cable. UHF works with these and was confirming.

However there is the

1 x Cayman Series 3220-H ADSL Router, also sat around since July 2001 unused. Unit does not ship with the 1.2volt/9amp generic power adapter that is required.

Just a small point but the ADSL wall socket is infact RJ45, except that BT supply the modems with a RJ11, if I pull my home one out of the wall I can plug a peice of CAT5 with an RJ45 end straight in

Anyway, that doesnt help anyone, I just thought I'd share my findings
