Now with pics...

MY97 4-door UK scooby Turbo on P plate:

Completely standard, this year has the facelifted exterior, sports (recaro style) seats (see pics), later turbo etc, but the older style dash.
2 Owners.
Dark metallic green.
Almost full service history, previous owner missed 2 minor (7.5k) services, many receipts from bell&covill. Car runs spot on.
Cat 1 alarm (Sigma SG30)
new tyres on std 15inch alloys.
Recent new discs and pads.
Cambelt replaced at 85k

No a/c.

New MOT
Serviced 28/8
Higher than avarage mileage (98000)

Hence, I'm looking for 6250 for starters. I think that's reasonably priced (look around at others on this board, and make up your mind..) I will consider offers. If it's not been sold by the weekend, there's an ad going in autotrader.

Where were you 6 months ago when I was looking?

Looks in good order.

BTW I'm just a little confused - I have a car of the same year - face lifted, bucket seats and old dash, but phase 1 engine. your photo seems to show a phase 2. Thought they came in with the new dash, or did I just miss out on possible piston slap fun by a couple of months?

that's a phase 1 engine.

of which there are 2 types, one with td05 right angle entry turbo, slanted intercooler, plastic header tank, coil on plug ignition

and the above with td04 front entry turbo, straight intercooler, and single coilpack with HT leads

phase 2 is different inlet manifold stud pattern, various engine changes etc, bigger MAF sensor.

This is the 'interim' trim of engine; from the early ones with td05 (right angle) they put on the larger (non-slanted) intercooler, smaller td04, and raised the compression ratio - power unchanged (quoted), with peak torque increased and at lower revs (now at 4000rpm). It is still phase 1 however.
Phase 2 (?late 98 IIRC?) refers to the heads I believe - they were re-worked to give a few extra bhp (about 7-8 quoted IIRC)

Thanks Pavlo - sorted that one out - sounds & looks like they made a lot of changes just before phase 2 introduction...

Shame I missed out on the straight entry turbo etc. We live and learn...

presumably these changes would be quite easy to implement should the parts need replacing.
