Would Loooooove the car m8, but they seem to be alot cheaper than that at the mo, My Wife wants one, we looked at a Dealer in Tonbridge today with a 97P Black with Leather etc & he was asking £3900, (I admit it had 100,000 miles, but was mint!. If you are willing to "haggle" I could be VERY interested, the car looks gorgeous!

clucking bell ! £3900 !
i've just done a nationwide search for 1997 VR6 's on autotrader and it came up with 45 cars from £6000 to £10000 !
so, i don't think mine is particularly overpriced, especially with leather , air con fsh etc...
my bottom line would be £6700. no offers or haggling tho' !
you really need to view it to appreciate how original and clean it is . let me know......

Wouldn't have posted this but since White STi has already said it. Price is way off target, I hope you get it. But price White STi mentions is far more realistic.
I may be about to sell a less than three years old, 2.00 litre, New Beetle, LHD, full black heated leather, AC, very low mileage, CD changer... I'll be lucky to get £8,000 and they go as low as £6,000. Times have moved on m8 Look at the way Imprezas have come down... now I can afford one

thanks for the positive input
there's 25 cars of the same year advertised on the Autotrader
site, for MORE than mine.
Have they all got it wrong as well ?

Well a car that is for sale hasn't sold has it, therefore yes they could all be wrong.
On the New Beetle club site someone recently traded down from their Bug to a concours from new, show winning VR6, they were paying £5,995 and were slated for being ripped off
Also the net is notorious for old adverts, try looking at Fish 4 Homes (they are terrible), the ads could be a year old.

The autotrader site i searched on is a subscription based service - £15.00 for 6 weeks, so i wouldn't have thought the ads aren't that old.

Sorry to add fuel to the fire mate but I was at the auctions on monday and a new shape V5 on a 'V' plate only made £6.5K and it had only done 70K with full history and was mint.
AND I REALLY WANTED IT!!

Unfortuantly the **** has fallen out of certain sectors of the used car market, performance cars have been hit hard. I have had an E36 M3 for sale for 6 weeks with no interest at all, Iam slowly lowering the price but its heartbreaking to sell a car for so much less than you paid for it, especially when you have only had the car a year!!
My M3 cost £14500 13 months ago, the same car now is worth just over 10k, and Ive spent a bloody fortune on it getting it to the awesome condition its in now.
Good luck with the sale, a very nice VR6. Dont worry about what other people say about price, yes, they are trying to be helpful but you dont need to hear it, if you dont sell for your asking price then lower it, and lower it until it does sell. Iam in no rush to get rid of mine so Iam slowly dropping the price everytime it goes in the trader.

i KNOW WHAT YOUR SAYING THE WAY CARS DROP IN PRICE THESE DAYS IS NOTHING SHORT OF RIDICULOUS, MY ALFA WAS £27000 THREE YEARS AGO AND ALTHOUGH I AM SELLING AT TRADE PRICE THE RETAIL PRICE IS ONLY 3 GRAND MORE IT IS STUPID JUST STUPID!!
