2 12 Inch sub boxes
#6
The internal size and volume of a Sub Box, weather it is ported or not and what it is made out of depends on the Sub that is going in it, so if you are not selling the speakers that these boxes where designed for, what's the point?

I got them as separates - side by side with a block in the middle - they would shoot out to the sides of the vehicle - but at an angle - this I have discovered is better than Subs facing the rear of the car!
They were to drive 2 12 inch Daimond subs with rated power output of 500wrms each
I decided that I wanted one bigger sub - hence I took the speakers out and put them in a 2 sub box
They've been sitting around in the garage for some time - so I thought I'd put them up at a giveaway price of £20 each - buyer collects - at that price no-one can really complain - or perhaps I was wrong
They are typical mdf with dark grey carepeted professional - i.e. normal looking
They were originally meant for an Audi - they were placed side by side in an Audi with a separator box in the middle - they fit snugg - they can be used individually - would just need to be secured down properly - then again my 2*12 weighs about 30kg and the this moved about until I secured it to the rear metal of the car!
I dont have any pictures as I dont have a digital camera - but I'm looking at getting one - anyone got any recommendations for a good one?
Anyone want them they can contact me on 07771 971004

They are not ported
I've had ported in the past - but that requires a much bigger box.... and are usually for monster sub power outputs
That said I'm only a novice having spent only abot £5k on my latest stereo gear for the car

Not complaining at all mate, just making the point that a box with the wrong sub in or a poorly made box, is about aS much use as a chocolate fireguard.
This is why Sub manufacturers generally give the dimensions and the type of box needed to get the best results from their sub.
YOU CAN'T JUST THROW ANY SPEAKER IN ANY BOX AND EXPECT RESULTS.

Thats ok - I know where you're coming from!!
To be quite honest I would expect them to take most of the non-hi end (read decent) 12 inch subs... without effecting the sound quality......
For £20 you cant go too wrong - if they dont sound right you can use them as a stop gap to getting a new box - the installation of the sub would take about 10 minutes as the connectors are on the side of the box - all ready to put the sub in

Have you tried making yourself the right box for you Sub?, if you make it right and drive the Sub properly, you should not need 2 12" in one car.
i.e. Made mine out of 3/4 marine ply, screwed and glued every joint as it was a sealed box required, evan screwed and glued the internal braces to the box and to each other to stop flexing. 3/4 marine ply still flexes a bit, but nowhere near as much as MDF (yeuk). Sealed the sub and the connection socket into the box as well. The size must be important, as they were quite addement that the internal size was 0.8 cubic metres after the braces and ecoustic wadding was in.
You can download a program called box calc, this will let you work out the sizes needed to make the required internal volume of your box, you can evan choose the shape you want in case of space problems.
Most important, use a decent quality amp and drive the Sub propally.
