Scooby whip,
I'm in the market for buying and yours fits the bill almost
exactly. But I've been looking at all sorts now for 2-3 weeks
and to be honest you are over priced for the market at the
moment.
Looking through the autotrader I've shortlisted mint cars
down to 99' V regs 21k/31k miles with aircon (no leather admittedly),
These are UK cars being offered at £10,500 and £10750 and thats before negotiating, and some with extended warranty left!!
Now I know imports are the same spec but I believe if you have paid
3-4k less when you bought the car you can't expect to get the
same price as a UK car bought for 21k when you come to sell - you
have in my opionion got to pass some of the savings on to the next
owner - put it this way I would not be prepared to pay the same
money on a second hand import compared to exactly the same UK car.
Don't want to sound like all these people that come on and offer
opinions and are not interested in buying - if you came down to
the £10500 mark I would be round having a look with my cash in
hand.
All the best
Chris

I appreciate your comments but please bear in mind that this whilst cheaper being an import has had some £3-4,000 of extra goodies put on. Its the last of a great shape being Sep 2000. The uk cars dont have the MY01 17" alloys and the leather (a £1000+ option) is very rare in the UK. The ICE is also top notch with the best Kenwood head unit. Infinity speakers etc. The car has also just had its expensive 30,000 miles service.
I know you dont get what you pay for on the extra goodies but this is not a standard UK spec car by any stetch. I wouldnt go below £12,000 I'm afraid. I'm sure you could find another car out there cheaper but it wont be as nice as my one ;o)

It looks like a very nice example and £12-12.5k is IMO a very fair price given the goodies and how much extra some of them would cost. People forget the clear indicators and repeaters are £100 alone and they do make the car look much better. Speakers are expensive as are fitting and these are all things that make the car way better.

Scooby whip,
Thats fair enough - and I can see your point of view.
The leather is definately a selling point but as you say you never
get back what you spend, thats just the used car market.
As I said if you were about £10500 (maybe £11000 if the car is
really nice), i would be round but £12000 is
just a bit too much.
I would be tempted to take off the goodies and sell them seperately
on scoobynet - stuff like the alloys sell reasonable well but stuff
like the stereo you can pretty much 1/2 the price.
Yep - clear indicators are nice and I know how much they cost (I
have them on my 99 impreza - but they sell on scoobynet for again
50-60% of new).
I'm not trying to say don't price the car at what you want to
sell it for - you have to start somewhere - but be prepared to
negotiate to a realistic level if you want to sell.
Respectively the P1's are fairly reasonable at the moment, so
as the price of those drop you are effectively not losing out.
If you still have it in 2-3 weeks and I havn't bought (I'm in no
hurry), and you fancy negotiating then please give me call.
cheers

I know youre looking for sellers not time wasters so I'll be brief.
Someone will def give you 12 for it, i paid 11800 for a 2000 same spec and mileage, took me ages to find a clean one, and yours is the FIRST one, I have seen since that I consider a better buy for the same sort of dough...IMHO

Look at it like this: It's very new (for a classic) its got very reasonable mileage and if you get it for £12000 then spend £500 on a TEK3 (its already got the decat) and you've got a 275bhp (P1) car for £12.5k!! You'd pay a lot more than that for a similar age/mileage P1.

I know this car just a wee bitty, I bought her and imported her from Holland so I was at the birth. She was always looked after and I know Stuart has continued where I left off.
A great car, the two tone leather and styling is top class and pretty unique. Price is always an issue when buying cars but if you want a first rate example, one of the last 2000 cars made prior to bugeyes, then go have a look at her. Sometimes its worth paying that little bit extra to get the quality and reliability.
All the best Stuart, brings a tear to my eye just seeing her again.

cheers dave. Thanks for your comments. I have of course looked after her, hopefully as well as you did. Almost feel guilty now selling her after she has been so good to me!
Dobnt worry, I'll do my best to make sure she goes to another good home.
Got your email thanks. Sti 7 is nice but i think still out of my price range.

I know it's swings and roundabouts etc but have you tried part-exing with a dealer against a P1?
I know the P1s are a little overpriced at some dealers but I got a 9000 mile mint 2000W P1 with Alcons etc when I part exed my old X reg turbo 3 months ago. I think I got just short of £14k for my car against about £23k for the P1.
I got it on a finance thingy and paying the grand total of £100 a month for the next 2 or 3 years (I forget which ) for the pleasure of owning a top notch P1.
I know finance isn't everybody's cup of tea but it works for me

thanks for suggestion Simon H but i dont like finance one bit. Prefer to own my cars outright so tend to save cash to buy another car rather than borrow. I know this isnt really the time of year to sell but I think my car is well above average. It looks much nicer than a standard classic shape but without being OTT. Have a few people showing interest so will have to wait and see what happens.

simon 6, thanks for offer but cant bring myself to turn to the dark side Wicked cars i know but a little too raw for me as a day to day car. An impreza is about the limit.

Scoobywhip, your car looks great. I sold my last-of-the line X reg
Classic UK spec import 2 weeks ago for 12K - mine had big wheels/extra gauges etc but no aircon or leather (but only 18K miles). Your price is spot on. Don't let anyone take the car for less. You will sell; it just takes time. Mine took nearly 3 months to sell - which was great as I had to wait 3 months for my new car - a SEAT Leon Cupra R........
