Its going into a legacy, but wont be fitting until the P1 box is sold.
As for fitting, fitment of the box does appear as if it will be OK, although it is quite a bit bigger than the 5speed. Also requires a suitable propshaft, and rear diff to suit the 6speed.
Will be able to tell more, when we start the job.

Rear hubs shouldnt be necessary, but driveshafts would be as it is a plate type lsd, not the viscous unit.
The box is in a 1990 legacy, and when we fitted it, we used rear shafts from a MY00 STI estate, which fitted straight into the legacy rear hubs. Possibly some 2 door STI's may have the larger rear hubs, but I am not totally familiar with all the variations.

Less than 15,000 miles from new, both in perfect working order. Obviously would have to post to mainland uk buyer, or arrange for collection.
For sale due to 6speed replacement.

Offers???

Yep, they bolt straight in. Only possible difference is the newer motors have 6-8 bolts in the belhousing, where the older have only 4. Not a problem though.

Question

So have you fitted an STI 6speed box in a P1? Does it fit straight in?
