in fact it has already sold! went for £3500 which makes that price look silly cos it's a dlva "select" type plate (i.e. one of the standard year format cheapos) rather than a dvla "classic" which are auctioned to highest bidder with a reserve (often many thousands).

I think it unlikely that new reg will buy off you for that sort of money...but if they do, let me know as I have a couple of plates that are obviously worth more than I thought lol

New Reg won't buy it off you for that. That's what they have valued it at to yourself. They will then stick a couple of hundred on the price for themselves and advertise it for you, probably at around £1500-1600.
It is then likely to remain on their site forever and a day as no-one will want it because it is way overpriced!
