Due to a complete screw up with my insurance company, I may have to let go of my Scooby, due to the fact that they now decide to tell me they dont insure imports, when before I bought it they said they did. I may be willing to p/x with something a bit cheaper, but nothing too dear.... I bought it off of a fellow scoobynetter recently. The car itself is absolutely MINT. Here is a spec...

2000 W plate WRX (import)
13500 miles
FSH - even all the Jap history (transfer docs etc - everything!)
White
Fitted with a tracker
P.number plate
STI 5 rear spoiler and front splitter
STi decals
clear side repeaters (fitted yesterday!)
Scoobysport downpipe
de-catted pipe
Scoobysport exhaust system
Forge D.Valve
ITG air filter
17" Oz Super T's with 4 new tyres
Lamco column boost gauge
Barrier Deadlock fitted

Also comes with usual extras like Air Con, 4x electric windows etc etc.

The car is MINT condition. I spent all last weekend polishing it!! I want £12500, or p/x for something else. As I said above I only may have to sell it if I cant get the insurance sorted out...

email me on cfoster@tullib.com for pictures...

Cheers
Chris

Don't sell it Chris - it sounds great. Get the insurance sorted elsewhere mate.

Have a look on the Insurance forum - you'll get loads of advice there!

I have looked through and ye I can get it cheaper elsewhere, but I've already paid a fortune this year to cover the previous car.... I've still got over 6 months left on this policy. If I were to cancel I would get **** all back from them.

Cheers

Get on to the insurance ombudsman because if they had told you that they insure imports and you have proof of it then they will have to honour the quote!

Thing is I dont have proof.... They gave me the insurance quote over the phone, but had no written confirmation.. Whether they realised what they had said... When I told them this they are telling me that I must have told them it was a UK one?????

Did you get the quote through giving them the reg number? if so then they DID know it was an import.

If they have quoted then they have to honour the quote.

Sounds like they are trying to wriggle out of it.

Have you tried tesco? Ive not have a quote that they havnt beaten yet.

Cheers

Paul

I didn't give them the plate when I got the quote as I didn't know what it was at the time.....

tesco's are the people who quoted me cheaper, but I dont want to cancel this policy as at my age and previous convictions, NCD's are worth loads!

You can get a refund... pro-rata of what you paid till the day you cancelled. They cannot charge you for something they cannot insure.

Who are your current insurers?

Try Liverpool Victoria. I just insured my STi2 for £550! Give them and ring and tell your current insurers to send you a refund. If you pay monthly by DD then canx your DD and send back your insurance certificate to them.

That may work, but the thing is, I cant really / dont want to lose 6 months worth of policy as I need to build up my NCD..... Its a bit of a complicated situation so just want out of it really....

Cheers
Chris

most insuranc companys record there phonecalls so if they said they would cover that regestration plate you gave them
i would chase it up ask for the person incharge and tell them you want him/her to listen to the recorded quote and ask what hes gunna do about it??????

As I said above m8 I didn't give the reg number of the car so they cant do anything about it.... Tried that one!!!! I'm not too overly bothered as I've only got to have a runner for a short while, then I'll buy another one!! - or maybe an Evo!

You wont lose your NCD if you insure with someone else. Like I said, they cannot charge you for something they cannot insure! They should not have insured you at all without the full details. You have the right to cancel your policy at anytime... What is it that is so complicated.

I work in insurance by the way.

That is the scooby!! I only bought it about a fortnight ago!! I have just come back from being out all evening in it! ! I love it!!!!

I could cancel this yrs but being 23 on a 3 yr old car with 10 points and 3 yrs NCD isn't gonna do me any favours...

Tesco's do insure imports BTW.....

I think I'll sleep on it!!

Thanks for all your help guys... (and gals!)
