one of the all time great cars. Especially once you have mastered that lift off oversteer. Peugeot torsion bars are great

A serously fantastic car. I had one before my scooby and sold it to my mate. That way I still get to drive it once in a while.

You LIFT OFF the acclerator (as brutally as you dare) the car then begins to OVERSTEER- thus the phrase "lift off oversteer"

NB I'll attempt to explain oversteer in simple terms- the back end tries to swap ends with the front like a rear wheel drive car. This is a good thing.

Cool

Bugeyes is looking for a new car and this may interest him. He was looking for a suitable (GTI6/Rallye/CTR) part ex against his RB5, which he has now sold.

Find his profile and send him an e-mail, or e mail me your telephone number and I will pass it on.

I will give him a call and tell him about this post either way.

Good luck and BTT

Cheers DogMan, will do.

As far as the lift-off oversteer thing goes, with the final version of the 306gti-6 (which mine is) Peugeot had virtually eliminated it (well as much as you can with any FWD, short wheelbase car). Believe me compared to the 205gti that I once owned, this thing feels like it is on rails!

Forgot to say, that if people keep saying how great the gti-6 is I'll probably keep it

I keep having serious doubts about selling her to get a new WRX. I'm a bit worried I'll regret it as I know I'll never find another gti-6 in this condition once she goes. And I'm not convinced a WRX will be that much faster on my local roads and lanes. Could be an expensive mistake!

Being a 306 Rallye owner myself, I can tell you these things are superb!

As for lift off oversteer, this has been toned down on the GTi-6 & Rallye by the use of passive rear wheel steering, so you can really hang the back end out and Autocar reckoned it was alomst rwd like!

Someone will love this car...
