just 1 question

how is a potential buyer supposed to sva this car when it has no european type approval
and the back door route as a disabled car has also been stopped?

to my knowledge this car is impossible to put on the road in the uk untill it is ten years old!!

if i am wrong can somebody please correct me as i would buy a car like this if it was possible to get it on the road

im refering to the uk mainland sva test
its probly different over in ireland
but the emission rules changed 1997 onwards so these cars had no european type aproval and have been sva'd as disabled which has been recently stopped in the uk as far as i no

meaning that for over here the car would be worthless ((
very sad state of affairs as there is no difference as such between this and a pre 97 car except that you can no longer sva it untill some 1 finds another loophole in this beurocratic nonesence :/

sry for any spelling mistakes

what are you talking about? no jap import has any type of e.u type approval hense the sva test(single vehicle approval).
ive tested a few now ranging from 93-4 to 99-00 and not a single problem.
all that is needed is a de-registration document from the deporting country,a duty and vat cert from the authoritys(normally done when the car comes off the boat)
the only thing that the 97+cars suffered with was high emmisions but to tell you the truth fully service the car with new filters and oil then fill it up with optimax and booster and they fly through the test(burns the fuel really clean high octaine)
the only loop hole i was aware of was the 4+4 vehicles, shoguns, landcruisers etc, were registered as mororcaravans which dont need a sva because of the low usage.

from my understanding of sva test the cars including and after 97 had no model specification numbers and classification numbers on the de registration certificate and without those it is imposible to sva these cars in the uk other than as disabled! but this avenue has now been stoped as far as im aware! if you no different please let me no as i said b4 i would buy a car like this
the model speci numbers was pointed out to me by the man at the sva test centre when i sva'd both my pre 97 cars !

so is there anybody on hear that can shed some light on the subject if im wrong and you can sva post 97 scoobys still then this car would be a bargain and some lucky owner

hope someone can advise

an easy way would be to ship it to the isle of man, get it registered over here (no SVA needed) very small test (tests if it is road worthy). Then take it to the mainland uk and re-register it as a car from the isle of man.

All jap imports have no EU type approval, if they did, you wouldn't need to get is SVAd, that's the whole point. The Single Vehicle Approval is the alternative to type approval done on a car by car basis.

there is a loop hole in the current tests to allow post 97 cars to be tested. This loop hole is being closed on 1st July. it will make it more expensive that's all.

if you get it done now it should cost about £600 all in.

Lightbulb

To shed some futher light on this :
(this was from another thread, and not by me)
The ESVA changes came in force last year, but up till now the conversion and sva companies have been using the disabled loop hole to get the cars through normal SVA. This loop hole will be closed on July 1. Emissions are to great to pass the ESVA test at present, no one has found a way around this yet partialy because the emissions test cost £1500 a time. Once a car passes then the model report resulting can be used on other cars of the same type.

hope this helps

I emailed an importer about the disabled loophole ending.

They told me that they are currently investigating a possibility once the disabled loophole has ended of being able to legally register any new or used car under 10 years old for a cost of £600 inclusive.

I did ask for more information about this, but for obvious reasons they want to keep it to themselves for now.

If what they say is true then this car looks to be very cheap.
