These are the dog's danglies folks, I know as I have them on mine!!
The bulbs etc don't deteriorate with age, so they should be OK.
I WOULD buy some covers from Scoobysport if you get 'em though, as the glass etc WILL deteriorate rather quickly if hit by a stone!!

They need to be re-wired to come on as driving lights.
"Easiest" way is to wire (via a relay) direct to battery & scotch-block to the +ve on the main beam to the other side of the relay.
For a more interesting way, use the fog-light switch to activate the relay to connect to the above wiring so that you don't always have 1000w candlepower seering oncoming eyeballs Downside is that the driving lights do not come on when flashing unless you have sidelights turned on.
(Disclaimer - yeah I know scotch-blocks are cr@p )

The way I did it with mine (and Pete with his cos he helped me fit mine ) was to scotch block (agree with Puff, but they were cable-tied shut ) to the main beam +ve.
The fog light switch then acts as an override, so the following situations occur.
Main Beam on only -> Just headlight Main Beam
Fog Lights on only -> Nothing
Main Beam and Fog Lights on -> Headligh main beam, and enough light from the driving lights to burn a path down the road
As these lights only pull about 35W once they have been powered on, they will run on the existing fog light loom without fear of melting cables. The ends of the lights have had fog light connectors soldered on so that they can easily clip in and out of the fog light loom similar to the fog lights themselves.
Hope you don't mind me giving the info out Pete

Blimey Steve, I'm impressed you remembered all that from the 'quick' install we did...even down to the 35W fact
Yes I used the fog lamp button.
There is no 'rewiring' as pointed out, just a tap into the main beam feed to trigger the Hella relay.
Still for sale........

Hello me again
Is there any way that these can be wired in to come on via the main beam switch on the steering column switch and not the front fog lamp switch?
If yes, I may be tempted.

Danny, they do come on with the main beam stalk.
The fog lamp button is just used to enable/disable the use of the Hellas in the lighting circuit.
This means that once the fog lamp button is pressed (on) the on/off control of the Hella lights is controlled by the main beam stalk. Pressing the fog lamp button again (off) will simply exclude the Hella lights when main beam is selected using the stalk.
I used this configuration so that in some slightly misty/drizzle conditions you can run with main beam without activating the Hellas (which can cause worse visibile because of the light being reflected back).
