Hi Mark B
We have been driving her around for the past five years, we didnt take a lot of notice of her colour or her McRae - we just liked her speed and the way she handles. However we have just re-looked at the www.terzo.co.uk website and it confirms that the special edition is in fact a McRae with the racing colours - there were only 333 made!

Terzo's were available from 97-98 in light rally blue.
The Series McCrae was a dark blue colour and available in 95-96 from memory.
Has to be one or the other!
Im not after buying, (although the limited editions are tempting!) But someone will ask exactly what it is. Hope this helps?

Hi MB
Thanks for the info - as I said before we have never been that knowledgable about her - it is quite amazing that there is so much to know - wish I had found out before, I only found this web ste today when a friend emailed me with it!
Anyhoo the one we have is the 1998 limited edition (#72) which was made to commemorate three years of McRae victories - the web site says it is racing blue - Mica I have spent the last 5 years knowing what car we have and now I am not sure - is it possible the website has the information wrong? I would actively welcome a definitive answer - if you can offer one?

Hi D. Hill
Thanks for the info - we have a Terzo which has the plate under the radio - this is a commemorative series which 333 made - but ours was from 98 - the Terzo means three in Italian and they were celebrating 95,96,97 winning
the info reads as follows - I would like to know what I have owned for 5 years - any help appreciated from anyone
A celebration of Subaru's third successive World Rally Championship.
Only a select few souls will be lifted by the rare spirit of the Impreza Turbo Terzo. "Terzo" being the Italian word for "third" -- specially chosen to commemorate Subaru's third successive World Rally Championship. A mere 333 have been produced, their exclusivity confirmed with an
individually numbered dash plaque. It is a fitting commemoration. For this is a very special version of the awesome Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD that powered Colin McRae to victory in the RAC Rally and then secured the historic third World Rally Championship in succession for Subaru.

Series McRae
In June 1995, to celebrate their winning of both the manufacturers and drivers World Rally Championship titles, Subaru in the UK released a limited edition run of two hundred cars (numbered 1 to 201 - no number 13!) prepared by Prodrive going by the name of the Series McRae. The main improvements over the standard model are:
Special mica blue paintwork
6.5 x 16 inch eight spoke gold Speedline Safari alloy wheels
Pirelli P Zero 205/50 ZR 16 low profile tyres
Recaro sports front seats with open headrests and Series McRae motifs
All seats (front and back) and door panelling retrimmed in Le Mans/Avus material
Factory fitted electric tilt and slide sunroof
Interior numbered Series McRae plaque
Side and rear Series McRae decals
and
1997 saw Subaru win the WRC manufacturers title for a third time in succession. Even before the official announcement to the UK Subaru dealers, rumours were circulating over the inevitable release of a third special edition, with the possible specification suggested being very close to the final car. Available from April 1998 onwards, at an on the road price of £22,995, a total of 333 "Terzo" special editions have been produced (numbered 1 to 334, omitting 13). Terzo is Italian for third. This is to celebrate the third WRC championship victory in a row, and hence the third special edition. Specification for the Terzo is as follows:
Special mica blue paintwork (similar but not identical to the current WRC cars)
Current style 16 inch alloys, but painted gold
Air conditioning
Alacantra + suede effect interior trim (Same front seats as fitted to recent STi models, but without embroidered STi logo, and red shoulder flashes)
Interior number Terzo plaque
Cobra 6422 Thatcham Category 1 alarm with remote central locking
Side and rear Terzo decals
Special Terzo floor mats
Non folding rear seat

It is called "terzo" plain and simple and that is what the dealers should refer to it as ... it was produced as because of the wins but did not carry mcrae's name

DBM = Dark blue mica
or
DBM = Deep Blue Mica
Depending which year you brought it
Quote
"2000
The 2000 car added some minor but welcome changes to the 1999 model, following the theme of contunual development.
.........
The very popular Dark Blue Mica colour was replaced by a slightly lighted Deep Blue Mica"

Dave as you know the Terzo - you will know how much we do not want to sell her - however we have to let her go as the idea of hitting back roads on the wrong side of the car is a little beyond us and we really do not want to end up destroying her on some hair pin bend in Portugal- although I can imagine we will be looking for something similair out there quite soon as I dont think a standard car would ever quite feel the same! maybe just my opinion...

Thanks for the tip I will get onto that -
No probs about hijacking the thread - been a pleasure - actually wish I had found the site before
For the Merc - we got her so that we didn't have to infest the subi with dogs - get the point? also we have already sold her - but I thought I would put it in for a bit of fun!
Thanks for the welcome and the info - does this mean I can hijack sites too?

I've read the history lesson, very informative.
Now lets get back to the point of selling your car.
I'm interested. I would like to see some pics and to know some more details. Has the cambelt service been done?
Where are you based Vips?
