hi peeps please forgive me for double posting as this will go in chat also.
i recieved an email R.E. a car im selling requesting info and suggesting export. replied and got a email asking for my details so a cheque can be sent to me as payment this was without seing pics etc just from description so i assumed v fishy. now i currently have 6 cars for sale and low n behold ive had very simular mails regarding the lot. Im assuming its to try obtain your details for identity fraud purposes or some other scam below is the two mails i recieved, if you have recived simular please post id like to know how far this is going also please cut and paste this into any other classifieds you may visit i have done PVW CORRADO FORUM SCOOBYNETand VZI

SAMPLE MAIL ENQUIRY

Had similar emails regarding a Lancia I had advertised on-line recently. I figured that something strange was going on and stopped corresponding.

I know this scam - They send you the cheque for MORE than you want for the car (the excuse is in the e-mail), you then transfer the balance of the money to them and bank the cheque. The cheque then bounces, leaving you short!

They try it with anything large for sale eg caravans etc so beware

Had this a couple of weeks ago!! Was selling a VW Golf from the PVW classifieds about 2 years ago... Bit out of date!!

It looked fishy to start with so I just deleted the mail!!!

So you know, it's still current as I got it about two weeks ago, slightly different wording, but you get the idea!

I won't say why it looked dodgy, as that would give them more information on how to improve the scam!

Needless to say, I laughed then deleted it!
