which is irrelevent as you can get a copy from the net ? and the software is the only difference AFAIK. Also you can go to www.ephpod.com to get help.

System Requirements:
iPod for Mac requires a Macintosh with built-in FireWire and Mac OS X v10.1.5 or later (Mac OS X v10.2 or later recommended).
iPod for Windows requires a PC with built-in or Windows-certified FireWire or USB 2.0* card; and Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Home or Professional.
View iPod warranty information.

So typical apple you may need OSX.But tell me what mac are you running right now, because i can get you a copy of OSX if you want. I need to check whether OS9 will work.

P.S Macs rule...well of course they do its just that 96% of the world havent figured that out yet...

ST,

Cheers for the reply, my iMac is about 3 years old, and running OS 9.2. I have upgraded the memory to 128 MB if that makes any difference??

depends on which version of imac you have .this may determine whetrher it is worth upgrading or not. Go into your apple menu items and find apple system profiler. that shoulkd tell me what processor your imac is. either that or look on the underside of the actual imac.it has a family marking. then i can tell you whether osx is a good idea or not.also osx needs loads of memory to work well. 128 is the minimum but above 512mb and you start having more fun, but again it depends on your hardware.
my G4 has 2GB of memory and it rocks, so send me the info and i will see.

As a note, all iPods can be Mac or PC and they can happily be reformatted as necessary. (but of course you lose all music stored on them when reformatted and you have to reload it).

Bump!
