2.5 litre Legacy Phase I short block for sale.

Still assembled.

Get yourself some big power under yer bonnet by using this engine as a basis and building it into a monster with appropriate rods and pistons!

Yes.

Straight into an Impreza.

You need to change rods and pistons to suit the turbo car.
Also since it is being rebuilt, replace the big ends and mains.

Ideal if you've blown up an engine and are rebuilding. Why go for 400 when you can achieve up to 600!!

Cheers Andy.

It's not an expensive block and gives so much potential.

Maybe it's because there's no long term 2.5's out there to prove the point!

Maybe it's because John has a lateral built engine, the noise was the CAM BELT TENSIONER

Meanwhile, have a ponder about where David Wallis' engine came from, and how that managed to get 600 trouble free miles from new (most of which I drove myself), runs as quiet as stock, and is good for 600hp.

Scoobert, feel free to retract your statement.

600 miles and ongoing....

No oil usage in the first 550 miles too, after which the oil was changed anyway (running in).

a cam belt tensioner is a half hour job, so why has john's car been off the road for so long?!?!?

Because Lateral Performance organised for the engine to be removed, couriered down south, stripped and checked. Only upon stripping and checking was it determined that the cambelt tensioner was at fault, and that no other components were damaged or faulty.

The engine had to be completely rebuilt again, which has had to wait till after some of the engines have been finished. The rest is down to John and having the right opertunity to refit the engine and get it properly run in.

Cool

Scoobert,

you are indeed correct that a cam belt tensioner is a half hour job - until it fails and it creates a piston valve interface - hence Pavlos comments.

And just in case there is any misunderstanding - the tensioner was not fit as part of the build and unfortunately the one that John used failed. Which is very unfortunate for John.

BTW what do you think good piston clearance is?
