Hello,
I have an IHI VF29 for sale, it is 6 months old and has done only 6000km.
I still have it to my car and the reason I am selling is that I have the car-MY01- for sale.
Price for the turbo is 320 pounds including p&p.
Please let me know if you are interested.
Cheers
Kostas
PS: I can take photos of the turbo to see that it is in an excellent condition, I also have the receipt from where I bought it for more than double the price.

No problem mate, it's a free market you can buy the turbo from Kostas cheaper, I don't want to loose my money in every case and don't mislead yourself I did'n buy the turbo from Kostas and want to sell it in higher price (yes I know he sell his VF29 turbo and we have discuss many times about the price he sell it)!
I had a MY00 with some mod as John Banks and others can confirm and have some more parts for sale.
We are friends with Kostas if you wonder why the "BTTT" comment from him, if you are interested I have also a fuel pump, front Sparco strur brace, OEM brake pads only 1800km olds, side & front repeaters and some hoses as the car was PPP before a remap from John and all the other aftermarket parts.
So don't be so impetuous in your conclusions!
Cheers

What kind of performance can you achieve from a vf29 and what are its characteristics? I am only familiar with the vf 23 and 24.

The VF29 is a newer version of VF28 and very similar to VF24.
It was available on STI V6 JDM only and has according to Subaru better flow at lower revs which means slightly better spool up.
If you ask it's the more expensive between 24/28/29 that are almost the same turbo.

...popular replacement turbo for Impreza's that want really good strong bottom end and are not expected to rev hard up top with big boost. Best with some modifications, such as exhaust and top mount intercooler, kits, etc as this turbo will start to come on boost at 2900 rpm, however is only capable of running up to 17 psi @7000 rpm Will come on boost early and give strong performance midrange when compared to a Std WRX OE turbo...

At 7000rpm safely, yes, this is what IHI sugests, not much lower than a VF23 though.
Differences between VF23-VF29:
Both are roller bearing, comp. inlet diam. is 46,7 both, turbine housing is 9.4 PZ20H(as VF22) and 9.4 PZ18H, turbine code 94001 both, A/R is 0,71 and 0,63, comp. wheel blades both 6, turbine wheel blades both 11, wastegate actuator 8psi C395.
VF29 is very good for low down-middle torque and quicker spool up if that is what you want.
Hope the above info are enough!

This is what IHI suggests, many of us may run it more boost, but they say 17psi at 7000rpm, would you like to run more boost in this rpm area? I don't think so...
I have no info about the VF35, sorry, althought have read that is the same with the VF34 with smaller housing (16) and it's bronze bearing not roller.
